Job Overview:  

The Merchandising Services Analyst will conduct and analyze business processes using various systems to support Merchandising Services functions, all merchandising departments and other functional areas that impact suppliers.  This position understands and evaluates current business requirements, prepares essential groundwork, including financial information, to maintain and exceed targeted goals.  The Merchandising Services Analyst provides recommendations to improve current processes or systems and contributes to enterprise application integration. 

 

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes to enhance supplier relationships, improve efficiencies and increase profitability.
  • Understands the systems the data is being pulled from and the business processes around the data being analyzed in order to make recommendations on specific vendors, product areas, business processes or changes in reporting or systems needed to support the recommendations.
  • Owns and maintains SVHarbor security and database management.
  • Uses data to understand and potentially impact vendor negotiations and is directly linked to increasing cash flow and working to reduce any cost of goods losses. 
  • Involved in defining changes, including systems requirements, definition, data flow, testing, training, implementation and support.
  • Maintains weekly, period, quarterly and annual scorecards for business functions.
  • Identifies areas of potential business risk and communicates these timely.
  • Participates in detailed understanding of business functions and use of the systems required to support the Merchandising Services functions.
  • Documents the results of analysis activities using the appropriate templates or analysis tools, with reports, graphs and charts.
  • Creates, modifies, maintains and schedules procedures and reports using various report writing tools.
  • Tracks expenses and benefits for improvement initiatives.

 

Job Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 5-7 years of analytical experience in wholesale, retail or general business required.
  • SQL, VBA, and Alteryx knowledge a plus.  Ability to build Access databases or another platform to build to capture information from different sources to pull together.
  • Advanced skillset with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Strong strategic planning, financial operations, and business background.
  • Project management experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to run various types of reporting from different data sources, combining data, as well as analyzing data overall.
  • Strong math, analytical, and quantitative skills, with the ability to compile, analyze and communicate results to management in a concise and professional manner.  Ability to work across vast amounts of data from different data sources.
  • Previous experience in project analysis.
