Job Overview:

Elicits and translates business and/or technical needs in to relevant documentation for assigned initiatives/projects.  Establishes the consensus among stakeholders and/or project team members in relationship to assigned deliverables.    Provides leadership and a collaborative approach to integrate the stakeholders, project team members, and technical service teams involved in solution development related activities.  Demonstrates the ability to perform job functions in an independent manner.  Acts as a driver of collaboration across project and service teams and serves as a liaison for project managers, managers, directors, stakeholders and other leadership as appropriate.  Capable of performing on multiple enterprise level projects/initiatives and can be assigned as a mentor to work closely with BSA I and BSA II team members, guiding them to execute job functions and related processes in alignment with company standards.  This position also regularly contributes to the identification and/or delivery of functional area process improvements.


Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Leads the gathering, analysis, documentation, and validation of business and / or technical needs using interviews, workshops, modeling techniques. 
  • Documents business and / or technical needs using advanced textual, and visual, modeling deliverables designed to help UNFI meet its strategic objectives, in accordance with the unfi methodology.
  • Facilitates medium to large sized groups of individuals, representing significant diversity in interest and level of leadership, to a common understanding of a solution.
  • Lead team building and self-driven skill development through active participation in appropriate training, mentoring, and certification programs.
  • Leads interaction with business owners, subject matter experts and project team members, collaborating to identify, develop, and document potential business and technology solutions.
  • Identifies, manages, and tracks business and technical needs objectives throughout the project’s lifecycle. 
  • Identifies, evaluates, and communicates issues and risks, related to business processes to project, Technical Services and business unit management, developing mitigation strategies in collaboration with business and project team members.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of assigned functional domains, and their integrations with other functional domains, while analyzing retail industry trends and researching functional best practices.
  • Leads project or initiative tasks with relevant team members, stakeholders, and functional domain leadership.
  • Leads day-to-day business interaction and business expectations in relationship to assigned deliverables, with the guidance of functional manager, project manager, and mentor.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, functional domain leadership, and other Technical Services disciplines and service teams.
  • Integrates with other disciplines and service teams to ensure integration of analyst deliverable and process improvement efforts.
  • Assists with the development of content to support mentoring, skill building training, or tool related improvements.
  • Demonstrates competencies as outlined in applicable Business Systems Analyst Specialties (see below).
  • Actively participates and collaborates in the Requirements Management Discipline and obtains peer review feedback to grow and develop skills.
  • Maintains the Enterprise Requirements Management Repository to ensure accuracy of a solution’s requirements is managed through its full lifecycle.
  • Identifies, submits, and drives the development of requirements management process improvement needs.
  • Conducts assessments of how existing requirements management collateral (documentation, research or other materials) can be more effectively utilized throughout their related functional domain, where applicable.
  • Proficient with ProVision business process modeling tool.
  • Defines and documents multiple workflow business processes with multiple complex business interactions according to Business Process Design artifact standards. 
  • Performs Business Process Design responsibilities under advisement of the Business Process Designer
  • Comprehensive understanding of the purpose, interrelationships of the Data Models, including Domain Model, Logical Model, and Physical Data Model, performing domain models under advisement with Information Architecture team.  
  • Comprehensive understanding of Information Management and Stewardship, effectively utilizing enterprise information management concepts and contributing new content where applicable.
  • Performs Logical Data Modeling sessions for the purpose of producing Domain Models, under the advisement of an Information Architect.
  • Demonstrates advanced practical and applied knowledge of packaged methodologies such as the Rational Unified Process, Agile and SCRUM
  • Demonstrates extensive practical and applied knowledge of software development best practices such as code reviews, peer programming, test driven development and continuous integration
  • Researches emerging industry best practices in Information Technology project and software development lifecycles
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities
  • Performs advanced analysis of industry best practices in Information Technology project management and software development lifecycles, recommending how they can be implemented in the Supervalu technical Services organization
  • Demonstrates advanced practical knowledge of disciplines in the project and software development lifecycle, including Project Management, Requirements Management, Business Modeling, Analysis and Design, Implementation, Configuration and Change Management, Test, and Deployment with detailed knowledge and practical experience in two to four of these areas
  • Leads communication across multiple Supervalu Technical Services disciplines, teams and organizations while bridging consensus across their varied interests and priorities

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline preferred.
  • 6-8 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Preferred work experience in IT/Technical Services, retail or supply chain organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to work in geographically dispersed teams 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrates strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrate advanced facilitation skills with the ability to drive toward common solutions.
  • Demonstrate advanced interviewing, listening, and observational skills used to identify and define business and technical needs. 
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and conceptual skills used to evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, while reconciling discrepancies.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical modeling skills (models that clearly and easily communicate concepts to customers).
  • Demonstrates effective technical system and business function documentation skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work under the direction of functional managers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to bring applicable project aligned groups together and facilitate cross-group issues and potential competing priorities.
  • Demonstrates ability to resolve complex problems, obtaining advice from key subject matter experts as needed.
  • Leads and enhances business process design efforts
  • Possesses advanced leadership and facilitation skills characterized by independent work and driving of results
