SVP Application Development and Innovation

Job Overview: 

Provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing Information Technology solutions across the organization. Direct the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems in support of business operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development.

 

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

  • Leads IT strategic and operational software architecture planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives against business objectives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
  • Develops and maintains an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business.
  • Establishes technology goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development.
  • Assesses and communicates risks associated with IT project investments.
  • Develops, tracks, and controls annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Coordinates and facilitates consultation with stakeholders to define business and system requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Ensures continuous delivery of IT solutions through monitoring/oversight of service level agreements with end users and technology service provider partners.
  • Defines and communicates corporate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating software application systems.
  • Approves, prioritizes, and controls projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems.
  • Reviews hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursues master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.
  • Keeps current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and costs. Advises and educates executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.
  • Promotes and oversees strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including government agencies, vendors, and partner organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)

  • Masters Degree Business Administration or Computer Science preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems or software engineering
 
Experience:
  • 15+ years directing a national IT operation across multiple lines of business
  • Distribution system experience preferred 
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, execution and policy development
  • Exposure to business theory, business processes, large staff management, expense management, budgeting and business office operations
  • Advanced knowledge of software architecture principles and design, including Agile/SCRUM development methodologies and technical project management. Object Oriented full lifecycle software design and development.experience, including modern continuous delivery CI/CD management using open source technologies such as NodeJS, GrapghQL, Angular, React, Jenkins and NoSQL databases as well as the core Java/J2EE/Spring framework and C#/.Net, Web Services (SOAP & REST) and microservices, native/hybrid mobile development (iOS & Android), all including applications hosted in a cloud environment and using their development environments.
  • Mainframe Z/OS & iSeries experience, especially with recent migration/porting projects, including Cobol, DB2, JCL, SQL, IDMS, CICS, and stored procedures.
  • Strong business-driven data architecture and execution experience, including large-scale processing and storage methodologies (HADOOP, data warehousing, data lakes).
  • Experience with Salesforce Visualforce code and components as well as the full Manhattan suite of SCM/distribution applications preferred.
  • End user/customer consulting or systems integration experience highly desired.
 
Knowledge:
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate software application, infrastructure, and project management environments.
