Purpose:

Responsible for driving the development of cultural diversity and inclusion across the company. Design and implement our D&I and associate experience roadmap creating positive change and experiences that make an impact on engagement, inclusivity and belonging. Build partnerships and relationships to influence and manage change to support diversity and inclusion throughout UNFI.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide thought leadership, perspective and vision to create and implement programs that champion our core D & I vision, statement & mission
  • Responsible for building our culture while creating and communicating an inspiring vision across the enterprise
  • Responsible for developing and executing a cohesive approach to aligning and integrating a range of new and existing initiatives, policies, programs, training and systems that foster an inclusive culture
  • Influence through educating and serving as a consultative change agent for the organization
  • Align D&I goals and initiatives focused on recruiting, retention and leadership development with business objectives
  • Develop key metrics to assess, measure and track results of D & I initiatives
  • Create positive change and associated experiences that make an impact on engagement, inclusivity and belonging
  • Lead diversity & inclusion employer branding
  • Create a company-wide inclusion and diversity roadmap
  • Design and implement change initiatives that foster a culture of inclusion and drive associate engagement
  • Implement programs and events while cultivating an environment for local, grass-roots efforts
  • Provide recommendations on and implement competitive programs and progressive practices
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to implement sourcing and attraction strategies from underrepresented groups
  • Develop relationships with professional organizations, educational institutions, local community groups and non-profit organizations providing resources to Talent Acquisition team to attract diverse talent
  • Use trend data, research, analysis and benchmarks to inform decisions
  • Promote a cohesive and inclusive overarching culture while maintaining a sense of local identity in various office locations
  • Partner with HR People & Change team to deliver course offerings that educate and inform associates
  • Develop a plan to meet associates at critical junctures through their associate journey ensuring proactive inclusion, development and retention of under-represented talent
  • Responsible for reporting and compliance requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or equivalent related field.
Experience:
  • 10 plus years of relevant experience in Human Resources, diversity, leadership development and/or organizational development
  • Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to create and executive effective organizational strategies and transformations
  • Demonstrated experience building a grass roots / ground up diversity function and strategy
Knowledge:
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding and expertise of D&I and knowledge of trends
Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization while maintaining cultural awareness and flexibility
  • Must have a deep sense of empathy, confidence and organizational insight
  • Insightful cultural awareness along with the ability to drive through influences
  • Innovative strategist, oriented by data and process
  • Strong execution and leadership skills
  • A strategic and thoughtful approach to decision making
  • Proven ability to make an impact and collaborate with others
  • Demonstrated project management and implementation success
