PURPOSE:

The Operations Manager is responsible for directing overall operations of the distribution center to ensure excellent customer service and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages all the day-to day activities surrounding inbound, inventory control, AND/OR outbound warehouse operations.
  • Monitors, researches and implements solutions regarding issues related to damaged product, mis-shipped product, and missing product.
  • Assists in developing / adjusting of policies and procedures for warehouse operations.
  • Manages equipment needs and suggests investments for capital improvements.
  • Ensures that Warehouse materials are rotated and stored properly.
  • Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of Warehouse facilities. Ensures that both the inside and outside of the facilities are clean and orderly.
  • Works to develop and maintain productive business relations with internal and external customers.
  • Provides leadership to direct reports while focusing on process improvements, and creating a high performance supervisory team
  • Fosters positive employee relations, while ensuring Company vision and mission are active.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Certification, and Relevant Experience):

  • Safety sensitive position
  • Must have 3- 5 years warehouse management experience and/or logistics management experience in a complex, service driven organization
  • Requires 5 or more years of related experience, with at least two or more years of supervisory experience
  • Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Windows, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, i.e. staff meetings, employee reviews, reporting, etc.
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Experience in shipping/receiving is preferred
  • College Degree preferred but not required in lieu of experience

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Moderate physical activity in non-climate controlled and climate controlled warehouse, primarily concrete floors.  Warehouse temperatures can vary and average between -32-95 degrees.  Noise level can vary, and requires work around warehouse industrial equipment.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
