Job Overview:
The Woodstock Farms (WSF) Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for supporting a team of sanitation associates in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment. This position will be responsible for coordinating the sanitation of equipment, production machinery, warehouse and facility areas in compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and cleanliness standards. The WSF Sanitation Supervisor reports to the Director, FSQA and supports efforts to ensure sanitation tasks are completed efficiently and to quality standards while promoting a culture of safety and teamwork.
Job Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
· Lead and supervise the sanitation associates during cleaning shifts, providing direction and support
· Ensure all cleaning and sanitation tasks are performed according to established procedures, schedules, and regulatory standards (OSHA, FDA, SQF, GMP, etc.)
· Maintain and update master cleaning plan records and frequencies as needed
· Train and coach team members on proper sanitation techniques, equipment handling, and safety practices
· Conduct routine inspections of machines, work areas, and high-traffic zones to ensure cleanliness and address any issues promptly
· Collaborate with production management and other departments to coordinate cleaning schedules with production and operational needs
· Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, communicating needs for restocking or maintenance
· Maintain detailed records of sanitation activities, inspections, and corrective actions
· Enforce safety protocols and ensure PPE (personal protective equipment) is used properly at all times
· Assist in hands-on cleaning tasks as needed to support the team and meet deadlines
Additional Responsibilities
· Provide feedback on associate performance
· Support Director, FSQA on hiring decisions
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
· Additional training in sanitation and safety standards preferred
Experience:
· 2+ years of sanitation experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or food processing environment
· Previous experience in leadership or supervisory position strongly preferred
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
· Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
· Effective communication and team leadership abilities
· Flexibility to work varied shifts based on business need, including evenings, weekends, and overnight as needed.
· Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Work Environment:
Onsite Role:
· This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.
Physical Environment/Demands:
Warehouse Roles:
· Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
· Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.
· Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
· Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
· Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
· Woodstock Farms: Ability to work in an environment containing tree nuts, peanuts, soy, wheat, sesame, milk and different spices like pepper, chili, etc.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
