Job Overview:

A strategic and detail-oriented Commercial Finance Director with strong experience in contract management to support our operations with our largest Natural customer. This role will be responsible for driving financial performance through business partnership and ensuring compliance with financial terms across customer contracts and vendor agreements.

Job Responsibilities:

·       Lead the Natural Whole Foods Market finance team, driving performance, development, and engagement of a team of 3 analysts and senior analysts

·       Serve as the strategic finance partner to business leaders across the WFM and National Sales organizations, supporting growth initiatives, margin improvement, and operational accountability.  Develop deep understanding of the business models, margin drivers, and competitive dynamics.

·       Contract Management: Review and analyze commercial contracts to assess financial impact and risk. Partner with legal and sales teams to structure financially sound agreements. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and monitor key milestones.

·       Business Partnering: Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, and Legal to support strategic initiatives. Provide financial guidance during deal structuring and negotiations.

·       Lead monthly financial reviews, forecast updates, and variance analysis, ensuring accuracy, insight, and actionability

·       Reporting & Analysis: Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track KPIs, revenue performance, and contract profitability. Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.

·       Risk Management & Controls: Identify financial risks in contracts and propose mitigation strategies. Support internal audits and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.

·       Provide financial insights to support pricing strategies, margin improvement, and cost optimization

·       Manage the annual budgeting and long-range planning process for assigned areas, coordinating with Corporate FP&A and business stakeholders

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent professional experience

·       Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

·       7 – 10 years of experience in financial and/or business analytic positions

·    Strong Strategic Planning, Financial and Operations / Business Background, not purely financial background required.

·    Contract management experience required

·    Strong business acumen

·    Budgeting and forecasting experience necessary

·    Implementation experience preferred

·    System Implementation experience preferred

·    Demonstrated success in business partnership as well as leading and delivering solutions to complex business opportunities

·    Supply Chain Inbound Logistics experience preferred

·    TMS, Oracle EPM, PowerBI experience preferred

·     Proven experience successfully leading others day-to-day work necessary

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

·       Outstanding analytical skills (numerical, verbal).

·     Financial modeling and analytic experience

·     Project Management experience is bonus

·     Must be self-driven and very motivated.

·     Must be comfortable working in a chaotic environment and working with constantly changing priorities.

·     Leads and directs the work of others across the company, without direct organizational line of authority.

·     Strong administrative, organizational and relationship skills.

·     Excellent writing and communication skills are required.

·     Position also requires strong interpersonal skills, discretion, diplomacy, and judgment.

·     Strong teamwork ethic, positive proactive flexible attitude ability to take complete ownership of responsibilities.

·     The ability to work under pressure and time constraints as well as handle several tasks simultaneously required.

·     Advanced skillset in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and related software applications

·       Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

·       This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

Travel (minor):

·       This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
