PURPOSE:

Owns technical engagements and drives the ultimate success of partner projects. Acting as the “face of UNFI’ with key partners and driving discussions with senior technical leaders in those organizations. Uses strategic thinking regarding business, product, and technical challenges and maps the intersection of partner needs and company priorities. Utilizes excellent customer engagement and communication skills as well as the technical background to fluently interact and provide guidance to software developers and architects. Applies advanced knowledge and understanding of architecture, systems design, and integration to develop level application and custom solutions and recommendations on major enhancements and interfaces, functions, and features.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Job Responsibilities

Solution Architecture

  • Develop and drive strategic technology roadmaps.

  • Work cross-functionally to drive out cloud-ready application strategy, working with both Infrastructure teams and Security teams collaboratively

  • Designs and leads the implementation of an architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies, as well as rectifying gaps and pain points within the current state.

  • Documents necessary for architecture design and analysis work.

  • Facilitates the evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations as they relate to the systems

  • Educate developers on devices and service offerings

  • Documents best practices and create development resources that can be used by other developers specific to Systems

  • Provides input to Enterprise Architecture that helps build reference architecture, frameworks, and toolkits to drive the scale of adoption in the ecosystem

  • Advocates for enterprise architecture in relevant system spaces

  • Ensures that enterprise architecture guidelines and recommendations are followed and bridges gaps directly with enterprise architecture

  • Ensures that project teams follow enterprise architecture processes to include technical reviews and enterprise technical recommendations

  • Develops unique, compelling, and exciting presentations and demonstrations of new applications and technologies

  • Delivers persuasive, passionate, high-impact, high-quality presentations to senior decision makers

  • Evaluate and propose technical approach to stabilize systems that are not sustainable

  • Evaluate and propose different approaches to solve technical debt considering mid-term plans to transition to new ERP solutions such as SAP  

  • Actionable approaches to legacy data exposure to allow for minimal integration overhead

  • Optimization of cost and performance with existing integration implementations through new concepts and technology

Leadership and Coaching

  • Provide consultation services to enterprise and IT teams.

  • Explain technical issues and IT solution strategies to stakeholders and other IT professionals.

  • Mentor and coach engineers, administrators, and developers to ensure that architecture and requirements best practices are followed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 6-10 years’ experience in architecture or relevant experience

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Experience in implementation and consulting.

  • Expertise in multi-channel digital solutions, products, and frameworks.

  • Proven ability to architect, develop, and deploy experiences across desktop, mobile, tablet, and digital displays.

  • Knowledge of software/hardware design, selection, and deployment techniques and methodologies.

  • High-level understanding of relational database management systems and other data structures.           

  • Knowledge of all components of technical architecture.

  • Understanding of network architecture.

  • Solid knowledge of the following is preferred: Cloud/Hybrid Application Architecture

  • Experience using containers 

  • Component Driven Architecture (12-factor Applications - reusability, scalability)

  • Overall system health (logging and monitoring strategy).

  • Proven use of secure API design principles

  • Proven ability to create technology roadmap to modernize legacy systems

  • Deep understanding of industry standard modernization practices

  • Experience with SAP or strong familiarity with SAP integration strategies desired

  • Hands on experience with MuleSoft and AWS as part of the integration landscape

  • Strong understanding of tools and techniques used to replicate data from file-based systems to current industry technologies

  • Experience with IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, Kafka queues and AWS services to support existing integrations

  • Knowledge or certification in AI tools

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills.

  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.

  • Instill best practices and standards across technical and business teams.

  • Proven ability to contribute to the development of strategic technology direction and architecture vision for a large organization.

  • Ability to think across IT solutions in a multi-platform environment and define potential impact.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.

  • Strong project management skills; experience organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal and external resources.

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and influence at all management levels and with both technical and non-technical individuals and successfully manage in a cross-functional environment and remote locations.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on the ability to leverage technology as a business enabler.

  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/DEMANDS:

  • Some travel may be required.

  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.

  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment during a normal workday.

  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
