Position: Reconditioner Associate

Job Type: Full Time Temporary (2 months)

Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Language Requirements: English

Purpose:

The purpose of the Reconditioner Associate is to successfully ensure that the product that needs to be repackaged, repurposed,or removed is done so to meet the needs of the business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To recondition products in distress by removing bad product from cases and replacing with good product so that the case can be sold to customers.

  • Helps identify products in distress by reconditioning select cases and reporting the loss to the supervisor or manager to be signed off as to continue or discontinue the reconditioning of the product.

  • Helps identify current inventory and report to the Lead/Manager of product concerns.

  • Report any of the department’s supplies and machinery deficiencies to the Lead/Manager.

  • Compiles weekly box program and fills all orders as accurately as possible.

  • Labels products that are incorrectly labeled or not labeled.

  • Coordinates the disposal of products that may still be fit for consumption.

  • Observes all safety policies and procedures. Embrace a high regard for safety, leading and serves as a role model for others.

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a highly ethical manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

  • Leads and serves as a role model for others in the organization by consistent demonstration of high ethical standards. 

  • Ensures HACCP and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures are understood and followed by associates in the facility. 

  • Performs other job duties as required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Two (2) years experience in a high-volume reconditioning/repack environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion

  • Able to work in different temperature zones (cooler and dry section)

  • Good written/verbal communication skills in the English language

  • Good computer skills, including MS Office; competent to learn and adapt to new computer applications, system upgrades and other technology as necessary. 

  • Able to operate warehouse material handling equipment (i.e. Reach Truck). 

  • Able to complete and maintain required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective, positive working relationships internally/externally with a diverse group of individuals

  • Must be flexible regarding tasks and schedules.

  • Thorough understanding of repack / reconditioning procedures.

  • Familiarity with fresh produce.

  • Good organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good attention to detail.

  • Have a high regard for all safety policies and procedures.

Physical Environment/Demands:

  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled space at 4 degrees celsisus.

  • Incumbent stands for long periods of time.

  • Must occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching are required in completion of job duties.

  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.

Additional Requirements:

  • Safety Shoes/Steel Toe Shoes are required to work in the warehouse.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
