Position Purpose:
As the Transportation Manager, you will oversee a dedicated team of 3 supervisors, 6 transportation staff, and approximately 45 drivers. Your focus will be on building strong relationships, strategic project planning, and executing initiatives that enhance operational efficiencies and documentation processes. Flexibility is essential, as you will be expected to cover weekends, lead driver meetings outside regular hours, and respond to emergencies as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and oversee all transportation functions to ensure timely and safe customer service.
- Collaborate with routing and sales teams to optimize operations and improve service delivery.
- Maintain excellent communication with customers, addressing feedback and complaints effectively.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards, maintaining safety records for all drivers.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, encouraging employee involvement and problem-solving.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in multi-stop dispatch operations and supervisory roles.
- Strong knowledge of transportation equipment and vehicle operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
