Job Overview:

The Department Specialist performs a variety of specialized duties that support functional operations

within a department. This role requires expertise and skills beyond general office work, focusing on

tasks unique to the department. The specialist ensures accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in

handling departmental data, communications, and projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities (NOTE: Should equate to 70% of overall job responsibility allocation)

 Maintain and manage complex records and files

 Respond to inquiries requiring specialized departmental knowledge

 Collect, compile, and analyze data for reports and special projects

 Create and update reports, graphs, and data comparisons

 Review and verify accuracy of information and documents

 Prepare and balance data; perform routine math calculations

 Coordinate special programs and events

 Process departmental documents and post records

 Prepare correspondence and specialized forms

 Train new employees and monitor work of junior staff

 Provide input on performance reviews and participate in hiring processes

 Implement approved policy and procedural changes

 Act as liaison between units and provide guidance to staff

 Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

 High school diploma or equivalent required

 Additional coursework or certification in office administration, business, or related field

preferred.

Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
