Job Overview:
The Customer & Supplier Communications Senior Specialist supports the development, execution, and measurement of ongoing customer and supplier-facing communication routines. This individual will partner with the editorial team to maintain a comprehensive communications calendar, integrating existing touchpoints and proposing innovative approaches to deliver always-on, real-time information. They will also test new formats to ensure communication channels match how audiences prefer to get information, helping us build trust and have a stronger impact. Other key deliverables include getting to know our audiences and industry; organizing newsletter content so it's clear, relevant, and supports our business goals; and being curious about performance data to spot patterns and suggest ways to boost engagement and results. This position will also support content development for UNFI’s Selling Shows including sourcing story ideas/angles, conducting interviews, and drafting Newsroom and social copy.
Job Responsibilities:
Content Curation and Distribution: Develop, produce, and execute existing communication routines for customers and suppliers. Organize and prioritize content to ensure clarity and strategic alignment. Coordinate all aspects of distribution and logistics including review processes, channel setup, and audience targeting.
Maintain Communications Calendar for Customer and Supplier Audiences: Partner with editorial team to manage and update a comprehensive, year-round calendar.
Audience and Industry Research: Develop deep insights into audience needs and industry trends. Recommend continuous improvements based on external best practices. Build strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners to ensure audience needs and preferences are met.
Performance Analysis and Recommendations: Capture, review, and analyze insights to optimize messaging cadence, format, and content to improve engagement and effectiveness.
Content Development for Selling Shows: Support high-priority events by sourcing story ideas/angles, conducting interviews, and drafting content for multiple channels.

Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in a communications role, preferably in a complex, matrixed organization.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Strong understanding of digital communication platforms and tools.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
Experience with internal and external communications initiatives and best practices, including an understanding of how to tailor messaging for different audiences.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with design programs (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), intranet platforms, and CMS tools is a plus.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with monitoring and analyzing communication metrics to assess effectiveness and inform future strategies.
Strategic mindset and comfortable working with ambiguity
Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Work Environment:
Remote Role:
This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
Travel (minor):
This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.

Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
