Job Overview:
The Commercial Sales Analyst will partner directly with our customers and internal sales teams to uncover actionable insights that drive category growth, identify emerging trends, and deliver strategic recommendations grounded in data. The role will leverage tools such as SQL, Tableau, and Alteryx, as well as UNFI’s internal data systems, to develop and present customer-focused analytics, growth opportunities, and tell data driven stories to influence stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities:
Serve as a strategic analytics partner to customer-facing sales teams, supporting business reviews, performance evaluations, and opportunity assessments.
Analyze customer, category, and consumer data to generate insights that support profitable growth and business development strategies.
Help manage day-to-day relationship with customers and leverage UNFI capabilities to drive growth opportunities.
Build and automate dashboards, visualizations, and reports in Tableau to track performance metrics, trends, and initiatives.
Use SQL and Alteryx to manipulate large datasets, streamline data workflows, and enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Deliver compelling presentations and data storytelling to both internal stakeholders and external customers.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Category Management, Finance, Marketing, and Supply Chain to align on insights and drive value-based selling.
Support ad hoc analysis needs and contribute to broader commercial planning initiatives.
Identify and make recommendations for mutually beneficial growth opportunities and influence stakeholders based on consumer and category trends

Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Economics, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in a sales analytics, category management, or business intelligence role, preferably within the retail, CPG, or food distribution industries.
Strong proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Access, and Alteryx; experience with other analytics platforms is a plus.
Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
Strong business acumen with a customer-first mindset and a deep understanding of retail/consumer trends.
Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable interfacing with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Experience working directly with retail or foodservice customers.
Familiarity with syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, SPINS).
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities:
Root cause analysis, solution research and development, modeling of change options and recommendations.
Compilation and presentation of data and analysis results that inform and drive leadership decisions.
Able to manage and coordinate projects.
Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skills.
Work Environment:
Remote Role:
This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
Travel (minor):
This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.

Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
