Job Overview:
The Social Media Content Manager will own end-to-end strategy, execution, and optimization of UNFI’s social media channels, ensuring performance aligns with broader business objectives. Leading social media content, the manager will collaborate closely with internal subject matter experts, our editorial team, creative services, and external agencies. They will guide cross-platform engagement strategies, support paid social advertising and ensure consistent branding and messaging across all UNFI social channels. This role is responsible for driving engagement, increasing followers, building brand reputation, and thought leadership through data-driven campaigns and efforts.
Job Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
Social Content Strategy & Content Development
- Develop, design and curate engaging content for UNFI social platforms including owning all social media content calendar creation and execution. Act as the brand guardian, ensuring all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience. Own end-to-end strategy, execution, and optimization of paid social media campaigns across platforms such as Meta, LinkedIn, and X, ensuring performance aligns with broader business objectives.
Community Management
- Oversee community interactions to grow engagement and shape sentiment – providing timely responses in partnership with internal experts to customers, suppliers, associates and other key stakeholders. Lead social listening and trendspotting and translate into strategic opportunities to drive our digital goals and priorities. Stay up to date with the latest best practices and social resources to drive business growth and results.
Performance Analysis and Optimization
- Track social performance and audience insights, analyze data, and derive actionable insights and recommended optimizations to enhance engagement and reach. Own campaign and monthly analytics report and communicate the story behind the numbers with leadership and stakeholders.
Newsroom Support:
- Help manage the newsroom, serving as the central hub for content planning, approvals, and publishing.
Support Paid and Organic Integration:
- Manage paid social campaigns, primarily LinkedIn Ads, including audience targeting, budgeting, and optimization
Performs other relevant job duties as required.
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in digital media, marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or related field.
Experience:
- 5+ years related experience in social media, digital or content marketing.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience managing social media for a B2B organization is a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
- Demonstrated success growing engagement and conversions for company pages and social campaigns.
- Experience with interpreting social media analytics and metrics; proficiency in social listening platforms for audience insights and engagement tracking (e.g., Meltwater, Sprout Social, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Google Analytics).
- Excellent copywriting skills and understanding of AP style.
- Strong background in content creation, brand storytelling, and community engagement best practices.
- Experience with paid social advertising, including campaign strategy, budget management, and A/B testing.
- Vendor and agency relationship management for content creation and paid campaigns.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage various projects at the same time.
- Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Work Environment:
Remote Role:
- This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
Travel (minor):
- This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
