Job Overview:

The Director Enterprise Architect is responsible for leading and executing the architectural enterprise roadmap by partnering with business teams to provide capability roadmaps, strategic program execution, and operational excellence. This position collaborates with leaders and peers to define technology architecture and modernization.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

·       Create the vision, drives architectural best practices, and leads the execution and strategy of the architectural roadmap.

·       Build an architecture organization that engages with enterprise and product software teams to ensure architectural patterns meet the needs of products across the enterprise. This includes providing Solution Architects to work within those teams to review architecture, provide feedback on application designs and provide overall technical leadership.

·       Develop and implement strategies for managing technical debt, including prioritization, remediation plans, and prevention strategies.

·       Collaborate with Technology and Business peers and define target state technology architecture and roadmaps that enable business imperatives while building on modern architecture principles and technology modernization.

·       Ensure the architecture organization builds strong partnership with engineering to ensure proper alignment of skills with technology direction

·       Prepares and delivers comprehensive communications to convey architectural direction and how it aligns with enterprise strategy

·       Looks for opportunities to capitalize on technological advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise. Lead technology proof of concepts to ensure feasibility of architecture solutions

·       Creates successful relationships with strategic vendor partners. Works collaboratively with vendor partners to ensure product and service offerings support the needs of the business and IT.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Experience:

·       10+ years of relevant technology experience, including enterprise architecture, software architecture and design patterns

·       5+ years in a management role with a proven track record of leading effective teams, particularly with distributed teams.

·       Experience with complex architectural patterns (SOA), building APIs, microservices, and event driven design

·       Experience in managing budgets and successful vendor management

·       Proven track record of influencing C-level leadership

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

·       Deep experience with software design and delivery on cloud platforms with an understanding of economic and business models for software in the cloud

·       Extensive knowledge of Cloud Native Architectures, in particular architecting enterprise applications on public cloud such as AWS, GCP or Azure.

·       Extensive knowledge of Cloud Data Platform and Architecture with end-to-end dataflow and integration solution architecture

·       Strong analytical, problems-solving and conceptual skills.

·       Strong project management skills; experience organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal and external resources.

·       Demonstrated ability to create top performing teams and lead through example.

·       Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

·       This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

Travel (minor):

·       This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

Compensation:

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
