Job Overview:
Responsible for the timely and accurate set up and ongoing maintenance of the product and supplier data records; manage all components of incoming supplier cost, logistic changes and freight reviews; is the final control point for the validation of all necessary new supplier legal documentation and verification of certificates for new product claims; is responsible for processing future cost and freight, changes in accordance with current company margin policies. Assist in managing special projects through completion; plan workflow assignments; track and supply project updates. Communicate changes to UNFI SRM/merchandising, sales teams, suppliers, and customers. Respond and resolve questions from customers, internal departments, external auditors, supplying all needed documentation. Identifies designs and creates tools and processes to support team metrics. This position is responsible to train and mentor Product Data Management Specialists and act as liaison to other units. Presents and undertakes continuous improvement opportunities within the Product Data Management Team.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating costing, supplier, item, and data sync tasks and providing direction to Product Data Management Specialists.
  • • Assists with managing special projects:
  • • Provide weekly dashboard for status updates
  • • Provide staff work assignment updates to Specialist
  • • Manage and resolve problems
  • • Complete project by deadline
  • • Assist with daily operations to include:
  • • Design and maintain department reports to analyze, validate and track all past, current, and future items at cost, freight, and cost changes levels.
  • • Analyze that all new item cost or future cost changes maintain company margins.
  • • Manage all department documentation is saved and available.
  • • Manage department workload; assure all changes are entered by deadline.
  • • Manage, resolve, and provide any needed documentation for audits and questions.
  • Maintain product family groups and/or display/open stock costing and pricing are matched.
  • Point person for costing and freight questions, PO pricing and cost/freight change discrepancies, SVH submit cost change questions and miscellaneous vendor and merchandising requests.
  • Validates item data elements, supplier correspondence as requested by Manager.
  • Researches and reports to Manager on item, supplier issues and acts as point person for supplier, broker, merchandising and procurement questions and issues.
  • Procures and provides information regarding cost, supplier, and item changes to UNFI sales and SRM/merchandising teams.
  • Interacts with other departments to address and resolve issues, requests, and questions.
  • Create and communicate supplier freight change letters for customer requests.
  • Research and respond to all cost questions; resolve with all needed documentation.
  • Research and resolve all product and brand discrepancy questions.
  • Assist with department training, SOP updates and daily questions as needed.
  • Gives feedback to leadership for Specialists reviews.

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

  • Advance Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel along with other Microsoft Office products
  • Intermediate knowledge of SharePoint and PowerPoint
  • Strong understanding of costing structures, brackets, freight, and item data elements
  • Understanding of business systems (UCS, UBS, WBS, TMS, PROMPT)
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem identification, research for solutions, evaluation, and presentation of alternatives.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed in completing tasks assigned.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy while being able to organize, coordinate, and direct others.
  • Effective time management skills.

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

  • This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

Warehouse Roles:

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Woodstock Farms: Ability to work in an environment containing tree nuts, peanuts, soy, wheat, sesame, milk and different spices like pepper, chili, etc.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
