Position: Sanitation Coordinator 

Job Type: Full Time 

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development of sanitation & maintenance schedules for all areas of the facility.
  • Documents, verifies, and files sanitation checklists.
  • Verifies zone temperatures, documents, and maintains records and reports discrepancies.
  • Responsible for bi-weekly calibrations of probe and laser thermometers.
  • Conducts daily audit of third-party cleaners.
  • Verifies and replenishes first aid kits.
  • Supports training and development of Sanitation Staff.
  • Maintains Glass Registry and follows up on work orders when issued. Keeps track of allergen spills and glass cleanup, and maintains records.
  • Completes corrective action plans for maintenance issues and follows up with SQF team.
  • Liaises with Maintenance Supervisor and contractors when on-site.
  • Manages stock of supplies (cleaning, warehouse, and safety supplies) and reports ordering requirements to Supervisor.
  • Acts as a back-up to Sanitation Associates during any unforeseen circumstances.
  • Reports any violation of company policy to Supervisor.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures.
  • Maintains systems and equipment by completing preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Communicates to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective operations.
  • Performs other relevant job duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience/Certification(s):

  • Lift Truck/Walkie Rider/Electric Pallet Jack certification an asset
  • Previous Sanitation, Maintenance, or Quality Assurance experience desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understands Safety guidelines.
  • Technical knowledge of equipment maintenance and electronics with ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs when required (i.e. transport and dispose of garbage, damaged materials). Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, and reaching are required in completion of job duties.
  • Able to work in diff. areas of the warehouse incl. Dry, Chill, and Freezer (-20˚C) when needed.
  • Proficient with Computers; knowledge in MS Office applications (Excel, Word).
  • Understand procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
  • Effective leadership skills with ability to lead, motivate and train others.
  • Innovative forward thinker, able to anticipate issues/opportunities, and work through obstacles.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
