Purpose:
The Routing Manager is responsible for leading and managing their team to achieve all department strategic goals, distribution center metrics, and company financial objectives. This position will use KPIs to address performance, risk, and drive strategic projects. This position will partner closely with the DC, Analytics, Customer Care, Sales and Regional Operations leadership to create efficiencies and drive results.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage Regional Routing team members, keep the team motivated, productive, and engaged in reaching company, department, team and individual goals and responsibilities and ensure that the team is aware of and participates in company initiatives.
Drives development of new reports that provide both strategic and actionable business insights.
Ensure processes are in place to maintain RoadNet, Trimble and WMS (UBS, WBS, UCS)
Interact with Senior DC leadership to discuss routing performance and delivery variance information.
Work with IBL team to find and transition cost efficient freight from carrier to backhaul. Track implementation and expense benefit
Audit associate headcount and schedules to ensure proper staffing is in place
Ensure accurate training programs are in place and updated for all routing team members.
Promotes a culture of open communication to allow for continuous feedback.
Acts as a coach and mentor to identify and develop top talent for succession planning
Provides input on staffing to include Interviews, assessing and recommending personnel.
Ensures appropriate levels of security and confidentiality are maintained.
Ensures customers, suppliers, third parties, and business partners are well informed through continual feedback and communication.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Business or related field
Experience:
5+ years of experience in route optimization, logistics, transportation or related field
Experience in a high-volume distribution or delivery environment.
Knowledge of DOT Regulations
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of financial modeling or cost analysis relates to route planning
Proficiency in routing and optimization software, RoadNet highly desired
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Adapt well to and initiates change within the organization
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Ability to work flexible hours

Remote Role:

This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
Travel (minor): This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
