Job Overview:
The Talent & Culture Intern will support the coordination, and execution of key programs within the Talent & Culture pillar. This role provides hands‑on experience across talent management (performance management, talent review) and associate experience (onboarding, engagement, recognition) programs.
The Intern will collaborate with HR partners and cross‑functional teams to help deliver a positive employee experience, maintain program documentation, assist with communications, and support ongoing improvement of Talent & Culture programs. This is a developmental role designed for a student or early‑career professional looking to gain exposure to core HR programs.

This internship program offers current college students a hands‑on opportunity to explore UNFI and gain exposure to the core functions of our organization. Designed to bridge academic learning with real‑world application, the program provides a robust educational experience for undergraduates pursuing business and technology related degrees.
Interns will engage in project‑based work across multiple disciplines, developing a strong understanding of the strategy, execution, and operations behind a leading grocery distribution organization. The program aims to cultivate future leaders within UNFI and the broader grocery industry by enhancing the intern’s business acumen, professional skills, and industry knowledge through mentorship and business aptitude training.
Job Responsibilities:
• Support the administration and execution of Talent & Culture programs, including performance management, onboarding, engagement, and recognition.
• Assist HR partners by gathering information, preparing materials, and helping address associate questions related to Talent & Culture programs.
• Help create internal communications and simple marketing materials to increase awareness and adoption of Talent & Culture programs.
• Assist in preparing reports and summaries to highlight trends, gaps, and insights used in Talent and Culture programs, such as employee engagement surveys.
• Create PowerPoint slides and assist with building dashboards or visuals that support HR and leadership discussions.
• Support integration of learning and inclusion concepts into Talent & Culture programs to enhance the associate experience.
• Assist HRIS, IT, and vendors by participating in system testing and gathering basic business requirements.
• Support the development of training materials and help coordinate or deliver introductory training sessions.
• Maintain program plans, documentation, and SharePoint sites; provide first‑level end‑user support and help with special projects as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education / Certifications
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (HR, Business, Psychology, Organizational Development, Communications, or related field preferred)
• Junior, Senior, or Graduate student preferred

Experience
• Prior internship, volunteer role, or coursework in HR or related fields helpful but not required.
• Experience with administrative tasks, project coordination, or customer service a plus.
Knowledge
• Basic understanding of HR or organizational behavior concepts.
• Strength in MS Office (Word, PPT, Excel, Sharepoint).
• Exposure to HRIS or survey tools is beneficial but not required.
Skills / Abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on tasks.
• Comfortable learning new systems and tools.
• Strong customer service orientation and professionalism.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Collaborative team player with a positive, proactive approach.
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Work Environment:
Hybrid Role:
· This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office (1-2) days per week. The acceptable split between onsite and remote work is determined by the manager. Hybrid associates may choose to work from an office on a more frequent basis than required.

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
