Job Description:
UNFI is seeking a highly dependable and safety-focused Part-Time Yard Truck Operator to support critical distribution center operations. This role is designed for professionals who intentionally prefer a part-time schedule while still contributing to a high-performing and safety-driven logistics environment.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced drivers seeking reduced hours, retirees or semi-retired professionals looking to remain active, or individuals pursuing supplemental income alongside another role. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient trailer movement, yard organization, and overall operational flow, directly supporting on-time shipments and warehouse productivity.
Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 6:30 AM
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain a highly organized and efficient trailer yard to support daily operational flow and service expectations.
- Accurately track and manage trailer locations, movements, and identification to ensure real-time visibility and inventory accuracy.
- Partner with the Distribution Center Transportation team to execute daily priorities and maintain operational alignment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory standards, contributing to a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism.
- Ensure the security and proper handling of trailers and commodities; escalate issues or discrepancies as needed.
- Apply a strong understanding of inbound and outbound trailer processes to support seamless workflow execution.
- Operate yard tractors and equipment with precision, consistency, and situational awareness.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating yard tractors or prior CDL driving experience strongly preferred.
- CDL license not required at time of hire; must be willing and able to obtain if needed.
- Demonstrated reliability with the ability to commit to a consistent, part-time schedule.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and sound judgment.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
