Job Overview:
Responsible for cleaning the distribution center (75% of duties). Perform routine cleaning including vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors, and windows, and emptying trash. Perform minor preventative maintenance and minor repairs. Assist service personnel as needed. Reports major repair and maintenance needs. Assists with snow removals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Cleaning the distribution center (75%) and corporate office (25%)
- Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors and windows, and emptying trash.
- Operates floor scrubber
- Sweeps and vacuums dock plates, sanitation barriers
- Empties garbage bins from all locations in the cooler, freezer, loading docks, offices, and break rooms.
- Empties cardboard and plastic recycling and compacts.
- Keeps all areas free of debris such as wood fragments, pallet wrap, labels, and paper.
- Discards leaking product and records on reconditioning log.
- Reports any violations of company policy to supervisor or coordinator.
- Performs duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location.
- Reports major repair and maintenance needs. Assist with snow removal.
- Performs other job duties as required.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Previous Cleaning/Sanitation experience in a warehouse, food manufacturing, or industrial environment required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to work in different temperatures inside the warehouse including Dry Section, Cooler Section, and Freezer Section ( -20 C°)
- Able to lift up[ to 50 lbs when required.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time
- Understands Safety guidelines.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers
- Ability to operate a Walkie Rider / Electric Pallet Jack to transport and dispose garbage.
- Understands procedures in different areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time
- Able to work independently and part of a team
Work Environment:
Onsite Role:
- This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.
Physical Environment/Demands:
Warehouse:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees F in Perishable Operations and 37 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operations.
- Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and have movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
- Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
