Job Overview:
Works closely with the team to develop marketing strategies, advertising and media plans aimed at driving sales and consumer loyalty for independent retail customers. Manages the planning and implementation of consumer marketing and advertising strategies including social media strategies for assigned accounts and formats in order to drive retail sales and profit to meet region objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develops strategies to include annual and trimester planning, media use, regional and corporate sale events, branding and positioning, measured marketing, and in-store communications; other account specific strategies will include marketing plans for grand openings, remodels, competitive activity and underperforming stores.
- Collaborates with Category Management, Area Sales Directors and their Account Managers and outside production facilities, agencies and vendors.
- Acts as the primary communications contact with independent retailers for marketing/advertising related needs.
- Develops effective advertising and sales promotion strategies/programs to improve store image and enhance sales performance.
- Develops annual and trimester planning calendars retail group.
- Prepares and defines advertising budgets by retail group where applicable.
- Partners with home office, field marketing staff and supervisor to provide research and analysis to develop appropriate marketing/advertising plans and budget recommendations.
- Gains strong understanding of assigned accounts, their consumer segment and competitive environment.
- Develops and implements plans based on retailer needs.
- Conducts presentations on consumer marketing and advertising strategies/programs and related subjects to appropriate audiences.
- Collaborates with region category management department in the creation, development and implementation of promotions and merchandising programs to support category objectives.
- Oversees ad production for assigned accounts/projects and direct activities of the consumer marketing coordinator{s} and 3rd party providers.
- Manages other assignments and activities as directed by the Regional Director of Consumer Marketing
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, a degree in Marketing, Category Management, Business or related area.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience working with an ad or marketing agency preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
- Experienced and knowledgeable in different digital medias such as ecommerce, loyalty, web and social media.
- Possess good supervisory and organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic accounting and analytical skills required.
- Possess the ability to motivate and work in cooperation with others to achieve desired results.
- Must have the ability to represent the Company’s interests to outside parties.
- Possess good communication skills both verbal and written as well as the ability to make effective presentations before groups.
- Deals effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone.
- Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities.
- Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.
Work Environment:
Hybrid Role:
- This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office (2) days per week. The acceptable split between onsite and remote work is determined by the manager. Hybrid associates may choose to work from an office on a more frequent basis than required.
Travel (minor):
- This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons. Travel is required up to (25) % for this position.
Physical Environment/Demands:
- Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
- Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
- Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
