We are now hiring an Equipment Maintenance Technician.  In this role you will be responsible for the skilled maintenance, installation, repair and inspection work on complex equipment and machinery.

Position Schedule: After the training period, the candidate’s schedule will be Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Candidates must be able to train 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday for approximately the first month in this position.

Some of what you will do:

·         Provide recommendations to repair or replace poorly functioning equipment

·         Efficiently prioritizes repair schedule to ensure an uninterrupted production schedule

·         Troubleshoot equipment problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.

·         Provide improvements required to ensure compliance to safety regulations to DC and safety team

·         Ensure that department is appropriately stocked with part and tools needed to perform their job

·         Undertakes actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc, on equipment for preventive maintenance purposes

·         Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs

·         Modifies and tests equipment to improve systems uptime and reliability

·         Updates and reviews daily maintenance logs

·         Follows all safety policies and procedures strictly

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

·         High School Diploma/GED and/or equivalent related experience

·         2-3 years of technical maintenance or related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training

Experience:  

·         1-2 years of on-the-job experience with electronics and mechanical equipment

·         Machining and fabrication experience helpful

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

·         Understanding of Safety guidelines

·         Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

·         Able to read and understand blueprints and technical reference manuals.

·         Understanding of equipment operation and maintenance procedures

·         Excellent mechanical aptitude

·         Ability to work well independently

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:

·         Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.

·         Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation

·         Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.

·         Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.

·         Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.

·         Ability to operate work related equipment

·         Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
