Job Overview:

The Maintenance Facility Supervisor will be responsible for the prompt repair and ongoing daily maintenance of all production equipment. The position will coordinate activities with the mechanics to monitor and troubleshoot problems. Oversee and do the installation, repair and upkeep of employer property, including machines, mechanical systems, and assets. The Maintenance Facility Supervisor will also ensure operator issues are addressed in a timely manner, including the operation of safe and functionally sound equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with external clients, customers, and contractors.

  • Responsible for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of facility maintenance functions.

  • Direct mechanics on all shifts, on the day’s priorities, and necessary changeovers.

  • Train and assist other mechanics on proper changeover techniques, troubleshooting, and repair.

  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operations, listening for problems.

  • Provide feedback, knowledge, and recommendations when determining proper repair, and answering operators’ issues.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines by following diagrams, sketches, operations manual, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.

  • Works closely with other departments to maintain schedules and implement changes and revisions in operational procedures.

  • Maintains departmental SQF records, SQF logs, preventative maintenance logs, and PIT files.

  • Performs other relevant job duties as required.

  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Experience: 

  • At least 3-5 years of strong maintenance warehouse experience required. 

Required Knowledge:

  • Must have mechanical aptitude and good troubleshooting skills by listening, seeing, and watching.

  • Knowledge of related computer applications.

  • Excellent understanding of facility management procedures.

  • Able to use all related maintenance equipment.

Skills/ Abilities:

  • Able to organize, coordinate, and supervise direct team activities.

  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications: Word and Excel.

  • Flexible and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies. 

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
