PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

To receive, verify and record incoming product and to maintain security and organization in the grocery receiving and backroom areas.

NATURE AND SCOPE

Emphasis in this position is to coordinate the receiving of grocery product with organization of the receiving area.  This is to ensure all deliveries can be accommodated and are accepted on schedule and to provide proper accessibility to product as needed.  Emphasis is also on ensuring accuracy in the verifying and recording of each delivery.  This position requires ongoing judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, attention to detail, reading, writing, calculating, computer skills, heavy lifting/carrying and operation of equipment.   Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs.  Assignments and work direction are provided by the Grocery Manager or person in charge

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTION

  1.  Assist customers
  2. Greet customers

-      Assist customers with product; Suggest product

-      Bring customers to location of item, when needed

-      Assists with product replacement and price checks

-      Cashiers and assists at Process customer requests

-      Perform price checks check out lanes

Functional Requirements

Frequent:             Physical – lifting up to 50 lbs., equipment operation (scanner, register, scale, check approval machine, coupon machine, intercom), reaching, standing, turning;

Mental – judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing, math

      Occasional:           Physical – lifting over 50 lbs., equipment operation (adding machine),  

                                    calculator, squatting, stooping/bending, walking

2.     Accounts for all product entering and leaving the stores through the receiving doors

-      Accurately maintains daily receiving records

-      Verifies all pertinent information on invoices

-      Verifies all product received is identical to items listed on invoice

-      Ensures all merchandise received is in good condition

-      Verifies that all merchandise leaving the store is listed on the appropriate credit invoice and separates all wrongly shipped and damaged product before returning

-      Ensures all transactions are recorded through the DEX system

-      Distributes receiving records and invoices to appropriate store management in a timely manner

Occasional:     Physical – lifting 60 to 80 lbs., sitting, twisting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, work above ground /floor level, walking on uneven ground

      Organizes the grocery receiving and backroom areas

-      Organizes stock to ensure a minimum amount of handling and movement

-      Keeps empty pallets neatly stacked in an appropriate area

-      Keeps carts and jacks stored in an appropriate area

-      Ensures dock plates are properly stored when not in use

3.     Maintains security over receiving doors to ensure only authorized personnel enter or exit

Frequent:         Physical – standing, walking, stooping/bending, squatting, reaching

Mental – Social skills/interaction with others, reading, writing, calculating, memorization, judgment/decision making

                  Occasional:     Physical – carrying up and lifting 60 to 80 lbs., sitting, twisting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, work above ground /floor level, walking on uneven ground

                  Operates forklift and power jack in a confident and safe manner and properly maintains equipment according to schedule

-      Follows all recommended operating procedures and safety guidelines

-      Demonstrates proper awareness of surroundings when operating

-      Checks batteries for proper water level, checks to ensure properly charged and reports malfunctions to manager

4.     Maintains receiving backroom and compactor areas in a clean and sanitary condition

-        Plans for and coordinates maintenance personnel with head maintenance as necessary

Frequent:         Physical – Equipment operation (forklift, power jack, hand jack, baler, box cutter, compactor, dock plates), standing, walking, stooping/bending, squatting, reaching, carrying up to 80 lbs., pushing/pulling pallets 200 to 2500 lbs.

Occasional:     Physical – lifting 60 to 80 lbs., sitting, twisting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, work above ground /floor level, walking on uneven ground                       

5.     Monitors the operation and use of garbage and cardboard compactors according to store policies

Frequent:         Physical – Equipment operation (baler, box cutter, compactor), standing, walking, stooping/bending, squatting, reaching, carrying up to 80 lbs., pushing/pulling pallets 200 to 2500 lbs.

Mental – Social skills/interaction with others, reading, writing, calculating, memorization, judgment/decision making

6.     Assists with stocking on sales floor as needed

Functional Requirements

Frequent:             Physical – lifting/carrying 5 to 80 lbs., pushing/pulling 200 lbs., reaching, standing, turning, walking, stooping/bending, squatting, kneeling

Mental – memorization

        Occasional:         Mental – social skills/verbal interaction, writing, and math/calculation

7.  Follows all company and department policies and procedures

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
