PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
To provide quality bakery products that meet the customer needs, ensures customer satisfaction and a positive shopping experience.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Emphasis in this position is to ensure consistent product quality in meeting daily needs in the bakery department. This position requires creativity, attention to detail and on-going customer interaction while maintaining production requirements. This position requires knowledge of bakery production and product preparation, food safety regulations, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing and math. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction provided by Bakery Manager or person in charge
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
1. Assist customers
- Greet customers
- Answer customer questions; provides product sampling and suggestive selling
- Bring customers to location of item, when needed
- Assist with product replacement and price checks
- Answer bakery telephone calls promptly
- Record cake orders accurately and completely

2. Prepare bakery products
- Follow safe food handling and preparation processes
- Follow approved decorating styles and creates new decorations as appropriate
- Complete production assignments
- Ensure consistent quality and accuracy in decorating
- Accurately package, label and price product
- Assist in production, wrapping and labeling of bakery product
- Ensure a variety of product is prepared for maximum sales potential
Functional Requirements
Frequent: Physical – lifting/carrying up to 35 lbs., pushing/pulling 10 force pounds, standing,
reaching, stooping/bending, squatting, equipment operation (spatula, decorating
tubes, airbrush, copy machine, cake projector, mixers)

skills/verbal interaction, math
Environmental – extended exposure to varied temperatures and wet surfaces
Occasional: Physical – lifting/carrying over 50 lbs.
Environmental – working close to heated surface
3. Ensure adequate quantities of product and decorating supplies
- Maintain adequate quantity of product
- Maintain proper quantities of decorating supplies
- Place orders as required

4. Stock, rotate and face bakery product
- Pull stales and write down product, quantity and retail
- Prepare sales area by cleaning cases and bins

5. Assist with department merchandising as directed
- Assists with seasonal resets
- Maintains cross-merchandised product throughout the store
- Assists in maintaining proper signage

6. Perform clean up of department
- Follow all safety, sanitation and food handling regulation
- Maintain a clean and organized decorating area
- Maintain conditions in the back room
- Clean shelves, racking and cases as needed
- Use personal protective devices (splash goggles, chemical resistant gloves) as required

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
