Job Overview:
Baker provides quality bakery products that meet customer needs and ensures a positive shopping experience. Emphasis is on quality and quantity of the bakery product to meet daily needs in the bakery department. Baker will plan, organize and execute daily production plan.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers by answering their questions, bringing them to the right location, provides samples and suggests products to buy.
- Perform baking and food preparation.
- Ensure adequate quantities of product and supplies.
- Stock, rotate and face bakery products.
- Perform cleanup of the department using appropriate chemicals.
- Knowledge of bakery production and product preparation, food safety and regulations.
- Ability to interact and communicate with customers
- Ability to memorize, read, write, and do math.
- Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available. (Legal requirement to add in this language).
- Ability to operate equipment including but not limited to box cutters, forklift, mixer, oven, bread slicer and shrink wrapper.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting/ carrying up to 50lbs, occasionally over 50lbs
- Pushing and pulling up to 20lbs
- Standing on feet up to the whole shift, squatting, stooping/bending, and walking
- Ability to be exposed to cold and hot temperatures including walk in coolers and industrial ovens.
Schedule:
Ability to work Monday through Sunday early morning hours.

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
