Job Overview:
Responsible for tracking inventory and maintaining accurate inventory records and able to research any discrepancies. Display a strong understanding of the equipment he/she uses, the location of product, and the lay-out of the warehouse, slot location, lost sales, mispicks, pack size and all other applicable product information.
What does it mean to be part of the Inventory Control Team?
Our Inventory team is responsible for tracking all inventory within our distribution centers. This includes maintaining accurate records and researching any discrepancies of product. It is imperative to understand the layout of the warehouse to ensure proper location of product. Researching any damages/adjustments of product, tracking expiration dates and alert management of any potential safety concerns that may arise. Within this department, you will ensure proper handling of damaged and/or spoiled merchandise, pulling and processing salvaged product, review and analyze inventory reports to identify trends, and work directly with procurement and local operations leadership to provide recommendations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitors product velocity and tracks lost sales and in-house damages.
- Researches inventory adjustments and maintain high service levels (low out of stock).
- Initiates date checks, periodic cycle counts ( 3 months in grocery and repack and every 3-4 weeks in cooler/freezer) as well as quality checks.
- Researches mis-slots and quality issues, verifies pick slots and back stock verification.
- Processes return to vendor requests
- Basic slotting
- Tracks expiration dates (particularly cooler/freezer items).
- Tracks food bank and salvaged product.
Job Requirements:
- Understanding of Safety guidelines
- Strong knowledge of applicable Bakco functions and RF systems.
- Understanding of applicable Bakco functions.
- Understanding of all paperwork and reporting methods related to tracking inventory.
- Have an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
Education/Certifications:
- Capability of being licensed in operation powered industrial equipment.
Experience:
- Having an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
- Experience as a selector or lift operator (strongly preferred).
- 1-2 years of data entry experience preferred.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of safety guidelines
- Understanding of paperwork and reporting methods related to tracking inventory
- Strong knowledge of applicable warehouse management system and RF system.
Skills/Abilities:
- Attention to detail

Onsite Role:
- This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.
Physical Environment/Demands:
- Ability to lift between 40-60 pounds daily and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Exposed temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation

Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
