Purpose:
The slotting optimization analyst will provide analysis and support for driving change initiatives within slotting optimization. This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our slotting optimization software, providing essential support to our local slotters, dashboarding, and facilitating seasonal planning initiatives. The position will assist in the preparation of various financial activities including data gathering, trending, modeling, forecasting, planning, and reporting. Collects information from various areas across the company to assist in the building of models to provide insight to improve slotting efficiencies within operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the functionality of slotting optimization software, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing improvements to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide ongoing assistance to local slotters in the execution of slotting strategies, troubleshooting issues as they arise to ensure seamless operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support seasonal planning efforts, utilizing data- driven insights to optimize inventory placement and improve service levels.
- Conduct thorough analyses of various scenarios, generating reports and actionable recommendations to guide decision-making and strategy formulation.
- Prepares and reviews accurate and timely financial and business-related analyses, research, and forecasts to support slotting initiatives.
- Performs trend and variance analyses, incorporating data from different areas and synthesizes. Findings incorporate cross functional impacts, trends, and industry news. Translates findings into process improvements.
- Responsible for weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting and updates to management team.
- Maintenance of KPIs for assigned area.
- Provides insights into the performance of the business and translates findings into potential action plans.
- Completes a variety of operational research and analysis activities requiring the complication of data and information from a variety of sources both internally and externally
- Prepares results of research and analysis for management up to but not limited to department leadership.
- Supports leadership in critical planning and analysis processes.
- Develops and provides ownership of short term (1 year) forecasting models and provides support for long term (3-5 year) forecasting models. Predominantly driver based on multi-function business activity inputs.
- Assists with process improvements and strategic initiatives within functional area under the direction of their supervisor. Proven ability to analyze business process and provide suggestions for improvement.
Job Requirements:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations Research, Data Science or a related field.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in operations or supply chain management, with a focus on optimization techniques and analytical methodologies.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities:
- Proficient in data analysis and interpretation, with a strong command of analytical tools and software such as PowerBI, Alteryx, Excel, Access, and SQL.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced
environment. - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex concepts clearly.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, and related software applications required
- Experience with data visualization tool i.e. Tableau, Power BI is a plus
- Budgeting and forecasting experience are a plus
- Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
