What does it mean to be a part of the Loading/Receiving team?
In these essential roles, you will work directly with the inventory department, Supervisors and leads to verify quantities of product received and loaded onto trucks at the distribution centers.  These roles have strong understanding of products that we carry, all receiving/loading procedures and back stock. This team ensures that products are in the proper staging locations so we can efficiently receive and load trucks with product accurately while maintaining a clean and safe work area.  

These are two different, yet important roles to our distribution center. The Receiver position works closely with the Inventory Control department to ensure accuracy of all incoming products. In this position, you will be using electronic equipment to scan and record required information to ensure inventory accuracy. The Loader position is responsible for loading products into truck trailers by operating electric pallet jacks. Other responsibilities will include hand stacking product, labeling pallets, wrapping pallets and securing the load within the trailer.

PAY: WEEKLY at $19.25 an hour base pay + Shift Differentials

SCHEDULE: Working Days: Sunday - Friday 6:00 PM - End of Shift 

POSITION PURPOSE: 
Responsible for loading trucks with product safely and efficiently. Ensures correct product and quantity are loaded on the accurate trailer. Operates power equipment safely.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES: 
♦Inspects assigned jack for safety issues.
♦Turns on single and dual temp trailers refrigerator units at the proper times.
♦Loads trucks in sequence based on delivery schedule and routing using at least 5 load bars per route to ensure a secure delivery.
♦Distributes finished load sheets to the inside of the trailer, to the dispatcher, and to the driver.
♦Selects product on heavy nights or if understaffed.
♦Reports to lead, supervisor or manager if there isn’t enough work on the loading dock.
♦Removes debris and empty pallets from the dock upon completion of loading.
♦Reports any discrepancies in pallet counts, missing repack or unsound pallets to the lead, supervisor or manager.
♦Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location

♦Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
♦Understand all unload procedures and the proper staging of all return products.
♦Understanding of batching sheets, load sheets, pallet counts, cubing and depart times.
♦Ability to make decisions about the proper blending of repack and grocery stops together.
♦Physical requirements include twisting, turning, bending, and climbing.
♦Understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  
Onsite Role:  
♦ This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office. 

Warehouse Roles: 
♦Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.    
♦Exposure to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.  
♦Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.    
♦Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.    
♦Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.  Ability to operate work-related equipment.  
♦Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
