PURPOSE:

Responsible for managing and supporting all pharmacy related processing and technology systems. The incumbent is the primary liaison between the pharmacy business and working together to maintain and support existing systems as well as bring emerging technologies to the business for consideration.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage change, upgrades, and project implementation across the pharmacy enterprise. Create and implement pharmacy system strategy to ensure effective and efficient operations, and compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Build and maintain long term strategic relationships
  • Serve as primary business liaison for key IT and pharmacy system vendors.
  • Perform on-going review of industry changes related to pharmacy technology. Identify and drive enhancements to optimize EPS, Central Fill, POS, Outbound Messaging, Mobile App or other pharmacy applications
  • Identify emerging technologies and growth or cost saving opportunities. Define business requirements, evaluate pricing and ROI, review contracts, and lead implementation of new vendors, systems or processes. Create actionable plans to drive objectives for programs at corporate and store levels 
  • Foster cooperation and lead collaborative efforts across departments
  • Work with Host and ECC Administrators to coordinate implementation of the EPS pharmacy processing system and manage the implementation of new technologies including releases, integrations, and other upgrades.
  • Manage Retail and Central Fill robotics and associated integrations, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws
  • Identify and create reports to assist operations in monitoring key metrics against internal goals and benchmark results in comparison to available industry data.
  • Review EPS and Central Fill system and technology enhancement requests and prioritize based upon return on investment and compliance.
  • Ensure stores receive timely, accurate communication regarding system enhancements and problematic issues.
  • Develop, manage and maintain EPS training program for all new hires. 
  • Manage Third Party Help Desk department specialist

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications: 

  • Must have a college degree in Pharmacy (BS or Pharm. D)
  • Must hold a valid state license.
  • Must complete continuing education hours as required by law
  • Must complete all required state, federal and company training programs
  • Must be able to work shifts varying in length and time, including nights, weekends or holidays if needed

Experience:

  • At least 5 years retail pharmacy experience required.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience including performance management.
  • Working knowledge of database applications preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to negotiate with vendors.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:

  • Some travel may be required
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
  • Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
