Job Overview:
Woodstock Farms is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to manage our import container processes and optimize our domestic freight operations. This critical role will be responsible for coordinating with freight forwarders for inbound shipments, securing competitive rates with domestic carriers for both inbound and outbound freight, arranging drayage services, and continuously analyzing shipping costs
to identify savings opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and negotiation skills, a solid understanding of logistics principles, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.


Job Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
Import Container Management:
· Serve as the primary point of contact for freight forwarders regarding import container shipments.
· Coordinate the timely and efficient movement of containers from origin to destination.
· Track and trace shipments, proactively addressing any potential delays or issues.
· Ensure all necessary documentation (e.g., bills of lading, customs paperwork) is accurately processed and submitted.


Domestic Freight Coordination:
· Source and negotiate rates with a diverse network of domestic freight carriers (LTL, FTL, parcel) for both inbound and outbound shipments.
· Evaluate carrier proposals based on cost, service level, and reliability.
· Book and schedule shipments, ensuring proper equipment and transit times are aligned with business needs. Prepare and process shipping documentation accurately.


Drayage Management:
· Arrange drayage services for import containers from port to warehouse or destination.
· Communicate effectively with drayage carriers to ensure timely pickup and delivery.
· Resolve any issues related to drayage operations.

Rate Analysis and Cost Optimization:
· Continuously review and analyze current shipping rates to identify opportunities for cost savings.
· Benchmark rates against industry standards and negotiate improved terms with carriers.
· Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation costs without compromising service quality.
· Maintain accurate records of shipping costs and savings initiatives.


Communication and Collaboration:
· Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal teams (e.g., purchasing, sales, warehouse) and external partners (freight forwarders, carriers, drayage companies).
· Proactively communicate shipment status updates and potential challenges.
· Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve logistics-related issues efficiently.

Compliance and Documentation:
· Ensure adherence to all relevant shipping regulations and compliance standards.
· Maintain organized and accurate shipping records and documentation.
Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Minimum 2-3 years of experience in logistics coordination, preferably with a focus on import and domestic freight.


Experience:
· Proven experience working directly with freight forwarders on import shipments.
· Demonstrated success in negotiating rates and managing relationships with domestic freight carriers.
· Experience arranging and coordinating drayage services.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)]. Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
· Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
· Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.


Work Environment:
Remote Role:
· This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

· Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
· Woodstock Farms: Ability to work in an environment containing tree nuts, peanuts, soy, wheat, sesame, milk and different spices like pepper, chili, etc.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
