Job Overview:
Ensure the cleanliness of the warehouse. Primary responsibility is cleaning of the distribution center (75% of duties). Perform routine cleaning including vacuuming; sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors, and windows, and emptying trash. Perform minor preventative maintenance and minor repairs. Assist service personnel as needed. Reports major repair and maintenance needs. Assist with snow removal.
What does it mean to be a part of our Sanitation team? The Warehouse Sanitation team is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the warehouse environment. This role involves routine cleaning of warehouse floors, shelves, restrooms, equipment, and other designated areas to ensure a safe, organized, and sanitary workspace. Workers in this team must follow health and safety protocols, manage cleaning supplies, and use equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and pressure washers. Attention to detail, the ability to follow cleaning schedules, and adherence to safety regulations are critical in this role to prevent accidents, contamination, and promote overall operational efficiency.
Schedule: Working Days: Sunday - Thursday 7 AM-3:30 PM; 9 AM-5:30 PM; 6:00 PM-2:30 AM
Pay: Starting at $17.25/hr with weekly paychecks.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
• Ensures that you have all of the needed janitorial equipment.
• Operates floor scrubber.
• Sweeps and vacuums dock plates.
• Sweeps and mop sanitation barriers.
• Empties trash bins from all locations in the cooler, grocery and loading dock, offices and break areas.
• Empties cardboard and plastic recycling and compacts
• Keeps all areas free of debris such as wood fragments, pallet wrap, labels, and paper.
• Removes empty pallets and clean and mop slots.
• Discards leaking product and records on the reconditioning log.
• Reports any violation of company policy to supervisor or lead.
• Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location.
Job Requirements:
• Reach and lift cleaning work aides and supplies weighing up to approximately 100 lbs.
• Operate large floor cleaning machine and equipment.
• Push and pull heavy floor cleaning machines.
• Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance.
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
• Perform repetitive arm movements required for cleaning procedures.
• Use and operate related work aides such as: brooms, dust mops, mops, mop buckets.
Qualifications:
• Understands Safety guidelines.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers.
• Warehouse/Operations preferred but not required.
• Understand procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Work Environment:
• Onsite Role: This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.
• Work in a temperature-controlled environment ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
