Job Overview:
The Senior Manager IT Solutions is responsible for overseeing a group of technical associates, supervisors, managers, or team leaders and is accountable for Order to Cash and Procure to Pay services through the Host Business Systems. This may include planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of various application systems, services, and processes. Supports the maintenance and upgrading of their existing application systems and services. Leads team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information, infrastructure, and software systems.
Manages a team dedicated to the business Systems solutions establishing goals and objectives, managing performance and deliverables, and developing and mentoring staff. Also, this role will manage performance and deliverables from a global workforce of associates and external IT vendors that may be operating from various time zones. In addition, this role will focus on the strategic direction for developing corresponding IT roadmaps, presentations, and other executive summary content driving the future direction of the team.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

  • Leads efforts in the architecture, design, development, and implementation of custom in-house applications that provide ERP functionality to the organization from the core systems UBS, UCS, and WBS.
  • Works collaboratively with key business area stakeholders or internal IT teams to determine technical direction and approach to solution designs and planning the development lifecycle that will meet the organization’s expectations.
  • Ensure designs support scalability, quality, performance, security, maintainability, and architectural integrity, and ensure solutions are delivered in alignment with the defined architecture strategies and goals through collaboration across IT teams.
  • Define strategy, plans, and governance needed to implement and manage legacy and Java applications and technology standards that support the business functions of Order to Cash and Procure to Pay
  • Develop, monitor, and manage metrics / KPIs as a basis for service level management and continuous improvement.
  • Reviews and approves proposals for the utilization of IT resources and techniques to systems or infrastructure, processes, and procedures, that align with enterprise priorities: Appropriate escalation of prioritization conflicts to business and technology leaders for resolution.
  • Manages Vendor Relationships to deliver expected services related to production support and project delivery that ensure the most effective delivery model through documented and agreed-upon deliverables.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to the organization for in-house developed software and historical business drivers that helped form the application capabilities.
  • Contributes to the ongoing evolution of processes/methodologies that pertain to the software development lifecycle, people management, business process, or information services.
  • Lead strategy in critical legacy systems to provide continued viability in capability and availability for enterprise business execution throughout the business transformation roadmap.
  • Provides input into annual capital and expense budget process for internal/external resources, maintenance contracts, and developer tool subscriptions.

Leadership & Coaching

  • Will guide and coach direct report managers, team leads, supervisors, or associates with a diverse set of technical responsibilities.
  • Accountable for all aspects of managing the team including setting goals and objectives, hiring and termination recommendations, training, managing performance, developing associates, staffing, promotions, and salary administration, managing performance utilizing the organization’s performance management system, practices, and tools; applying them to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
  • Develop and maintain mid- and long-term plans that invest in the team’s technical skillset by outlining training and execution opportunities on new technologies.

Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science, or related discipline is required.

Experience:

  • 8-10 years of relevant Information Technology experience required including 3-5+ years of technical experience with systems/applications providing end-to-end Order Cash and Procuring to Pay capabilities.
  • 3-5+ years of experience leading a team(s) made up of technical associates and/or contract resources in multiple locations, including offshore is required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams with varied legacy and modern programming languages, tools, and frameworks: COBOL, PL/1, .net, Java, Synergex, Linux shell script, SQL, Confluence, Jira, GitHub, CI/CD.
  • Experience in change management and critical thinking across the organization and the behaviors supporting such, while engaging in a collaborative, inclusive leadership style.
  • Preferred experience in Cloud Native Architecture and Cloud Managed Services concepts and practices.
  • Led an IT team supporting multiple locations and/or relevant experience with various technical products, services, and production support responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence key IT and Business leaders.
  • Managing conflicting approaches aligned with a strategic roadmap.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of Finance and Wholesale Distribution business practices, processes/applications, and associated industry software tools.
  • Deep knowledge of all components of a technical architecture including Cloud/Hybrid application architecture.
  • Understanding of network architecture and secure API design principles.
  • Familiar with Java Spring Boot integration framework.
  • Legacy programming languages including COBOL and PL/1.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

  • This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

Travel (minor):

  • This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
