The Willmar Cub location is looking for a full time general marchandise manager! The general merchandise manager will plan and manage the general merchandise department to promote sales and achieve profit margins and labor goals; ensure a positive shopping experience for customers and a safe and positive working environment for associates.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assist customers and ensure proper service levels and courtesy from all associates
• Implements and maintains merchandising plans, using Division guidelines, which maximize sales, variety and gross profit
• Ensure accurate pricing and signage within the department
• Supervises associates to ensure efficient labor utilization and effectiveness in meeting department objectives
• Manages receiving, invoicing, pricing, shrink control and inventory to ensure proper product control and that gross profit goals are met
• Trains and develops personnel
• Supervises department safety and sanitation programs
• Performs personnel functions
• Performs as manager on duty supervising entire store as needed
• Observes standards and procedures regarding store security and confidentiality
• Follows all store and department policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
• Equipment operation (hand jack, power jack, box cutter, flat bed, compactor, broom, mop)
• Able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time
• Memorization, reading, writing and math
• The position requires on-going customer interaction, providing prompt, courteous and accurate service
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available
• Can understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing
• Must be able to work shifts varying in length and time, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Ability to do simple addition, subtraction, copying figures, counting, and recording
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Must be 18 years of age or older
Work Environment:
• This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center, office or Cub retail store.
• This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.
Physical Environment/Demands:
• Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled retail store environment.
• Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
• Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
• Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
• Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Open availability is required
• At least one evening shift is required between Friday to Sunday

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
