Job Overview:
This role is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day performance and relationship management of 3PL carrier partners, ensuring high service levels and operational reliability across the inbound transportation network. The position monitors carrier KPIs using visibility platforms such as FourKites, prepares and communicates performance scorecards, and supports ongoing RFP cycles through data gathering and analysis. A key component of the role includes managing carrier onboarding and compliance, maintaining strong communication as a primary point of contact, and collaborating on capacity planning and seasonal readiness efforts. The role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying trends, issues, and opportunities to enhance processes, reporting, and system workflows. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, proactive problem‑solving, and a commitment to operational excellence, while supporting both routine responsibilities and special projects as assigned
Job Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
· Monitor and report on 3PL carrier performance, including on time pickup/delivery, tender acceptance, and exception trends, using FourKites and other visibility tools.
· Prepare, distribute, and maintain weekly carrier performance scorecards and communicate KPI results directly with carrier partners.
· Support ongoing carrier RFP cycles, including data gathering, basic analytics, and other administrative activities.
· Enable carrier onboarding and portfolio maintenance, ensuring carrier compliance with company policies, safety standards, insurance requirements, and contractual obligations.
· Maintain strong day-to-day relationships with 3PL carrier partners, serving as a main point of contact for communication.
· Assist team manager with capacity planning and seasonal readiness, collaborating with carriers to secure adequate equipment and volume commitments.
· Identifies operational problems, recommends solutions, and executes corrective actions, demonstrating ownership and accountability for results.
· Proactively keeps team leadership informed of operational activities, emerging issues, risks, and trends that may impact performance or service.
Additional Responsibilities
· Contribute as active participant of continuous improvement projects, such as updating SOPs, enhancing carrier playbooks, and improving visibility workflows.
· Collects, organizes, and maintains data for departmental use, contributing to special projects, analyses, and routine reporting.
· Perform ad hoc analysis proactively in anticipation of leadership requests and operational reviews.
· Assist with testing and validation of system updates, reports, or workflow changes.
· Assist with special projects, process improvement initiatives, and system enhancements as assigned.
· Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience:
· 3+ years of relevant experience.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
· Knowledge of management reporting techniques and presentation styles
· Understanding of operational model for wholesale distribution company
· Good problem-solving capabilities.
· Mindset of continuous improvement.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
· Self-motivated and organized, ability to execute daily workload with little direct oversight.
· Strong analytical and math skillset.
· Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Work Environment:
Remote Role:
· This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
