Job Overview:
Responsible for taking palletized product and placing it in the correct storage slots. Also responsible for taking pallets of product from storage slot and placing them into correct slot for selection for delivery to retail customers. In addition, lift operators make the appropriate changes in the inventory system through entries into the Telxon unit.

As a Lift Operator, you will use a piece of equipment called a Reach Lift to move products within the warehouse. It is designed to work in narrow aisles, allowing operators to reach high shelves while maintaining stability. These lifts are ideal for storing and retrieving goods from elevated storage spaces, offering enhanced maneuverability compared to traditional forklifts. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring products are readily available for various teams within the warehouse.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reports to the shipping office at the beginning of each shift for the daily assignment, vehicle inspection sheet and replenishment discrepancies sheet.
- Take pallets of product that have been received into inventory and place them into warehouse storage in the correct slot.
- Record the placement of each pallet into the inventory system.
- Retrieve pallets of product from storage and place into correct slot for order selectors to receive.
- Transports product throughout the warehouse via stand-up forklift (HI-LO).
- Works in a fast paced environment with varying temperatures.
- Assists other departments with work activities when required.
- Parks and recharges lift in its appropriate spot at the end of the shift.
- Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Must be able to work the required schedule and/or overtime, which could involve nights, holidays or weekends.
- Must have Stand Up, Reach Truck experience.
- Understanding of Safety guidelines and operates the lift in a safe and efficient manner.
- Strong knowledge of applicable Bakco functions and RF systems.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Warehouse/Operations preferred but not required
- System implementation experience is preferred.
- Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Have an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions and to deal with ordinary, standardized situations.
- Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding; subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two digit numbers; the four basic arithmetic operations with money; and operations with units such as inch, foot, yard; ounce, and pound.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Onsite Role:
- This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.
Physical Environment/Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.
- Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
- Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
