What does it mean to be a part of our Warehouse Operations Manager team?

A Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of warehouse functions to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. This role involves managing the movement, storage, and distribution of goods, as well as supervising warehouse staff, implementing operational strategies, and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations. This position plays a key role in driving improvements in warehouse productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.  At UNFI, we strive to help make our customers stronger, our supply chain better, and our fresh food solutions more inspired. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages all the day-to day activities surrounding inbound, outbound, inventory control, AND/OR facility warehouse 
    operations. 
  • Monitors, researches, and implements solutions regarding issues related to damaged product, mis-shipped product, and 
    missing product. 
  • Assists in developing / adjusting of policies and procedures for warehouse operations. 
  • Manages equipment needs and suggests investments for capital improvements. 
  • Ensures that Warehouse materials are rotated and stored properly. 
  • Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of Warehouse facilities. Ensures that both the inside and outside of the facilities 
    are clean and orderly. 
  • Works to develop and maintain productive business relations with internal and external customers.
  • Provides leadership to direct reports while focusing on process improvements and creating a high performance supervisory 
    team. 
  • Manages labor needs to ensure business needs are met in an efficient manner. 
  • Fosters positive employee relations, while ensuring Company vision and mission are active. 
  • Manages performance of direct reports and also ensuring accountability at all levels within dept. Ensures operations meet or 
    exceed Company metrics. 
  • Partners with Human Resources to find and retain talent. 
  • Ensures all company policies are followed and implements proper solutions when needed. 
  • Maintains or develops reports to understand the state of operations, or where to make improvements. 
  • Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and 
    procedures, as appropriate for location.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: 

  • Five or more years of related experience, with at least two or more years of supervisory experience 
  • 3 – 5 years warehouse management and/or logistics management experience in a complex, service-driven organization 
  • Experience in shipping/receiving is preferred 

Knowledge: 

  • Must have strong knowledge of all warehouse procedures and functions 
  • Knowledge of budgeting, supply contracts, and shipping requirements 
     

Skills/ Abilities: 

  • Keen eye for quality; detail oriented with excellent analytical skills 
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and direct team activities 
  • Strong problem solving skills 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to motivate

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint 
  • Ability to understand Accounting, HR and Payroll activities/practices

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
