JOB OVERVIEW:
Supervises daily maintenance and/or sanitation activities using the most efficient and economical ways of maintaining the equipment, minimizing down time and keeping warehouse operations running efficiently.

What does it mean to be a part of our Warehouse Supervisor team?

Our Warehouse Supervisor team oversees the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring that goods are stored, handled, and dispatched efficiently. They are responsible for leading and motivating a fast-paced team, optimizing processes, maintaining safety standards, ensuring inventory accuracy, and utilizing WMS systems for reporting and order management. This role involves coordinating with other departments, overseeing shipping, and receiving activities, and implementing strategies for inventory control. Warehouse Supervisors also ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements.  Our supply chain at UNFI is focused on providing superior service, quality and efficiency, improving every day to meet customers’ unique needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facility Maintenance:
•    Supervises and trains maintenance associates and ensures that preventative maintenance procedures are in effect and are being performed on a timely basis
•    Creates, monitors and generates planned maintenance and job tasks using the computerized maintenance program
•    Facilitates inspections as necessary
•    Verifies work orders to ensure that they are properly prepared and verifies correct inventory procedures were followed
•    Orders parts, supplies or tools to accomplish all jobs
Sanitation:
•    Ensures that Company, Federal, State and Local guidelines and regulations regarding sanitation and pest control are met on a daily basis
•    Implements and maintains control programs to ensure that facility is free of insects and rodents
•    Supervises and trains sanitation associates
•    Facilitates inspections as necessary
•    Orders parts, supplies or tools to accomplish all jobs
•    Monitors and maintains department accounts to ensure quarterly budgets are adhered to
•    Coordinates with contracted landscape company for maintenance of grounds
•    Administers recycling program
•    Recommends new and replacement equipment to support department goals

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•    College or trade school degree desirable and/or equivalent work experience in areas of refrigeration and electrical maintenance required
•    Thorough knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems required
•    Working knowledge of the computerized maintenance program to document and schedule all maintenance tasks and inventories
•    Possess good leadership skills and the ability to supervise the work of others
•    Must be able to motivate and work in cooperation with others to achieve desired results
•    Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written
•    Work effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone
•    Basic computer skills required and personal computer experience, with word processing and spreadsheet applications preferred
•    Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities
•    Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions
•      Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.


PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:
•    Most work is performed under general office conditions in a temperature-controlled environment.   During part of the workday the incumbent will be moving about the Distribution Center warehouse floor and potential hazards exist in regard to machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, mechanized systems, movement of tractors and trailers, etc.
•    Temperatures in the warehouse may vary between –20 degrees to 70 degrees.
•    Noise levels in all areas are within acceptable tolerance ranges for those specific work areas.
•    May sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
•    Incumbent will use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of the workday.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
