PURPOSE:

The Senior Engineer in this position is a highly skilled subject matter expert for IT Cloud Infrastructure, specifically with VMware Cloud. They bring extensive technical knowledge and expertise to design, implement, and operationalize applications, systems, and processes to ensure cloud business readiness.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • They create robust and maintainable cloud utilities and automated processes for efficient cloud operations.
  • They lead the management of cloud infrastructure design, implementation, and execution of build and release automation (CICD).
  • The Senior Engineer also provides comprehensive reviews of cloud systems or technical services to identify risks, optimize opportunities, and make recommendations to leadership based on findings.
  • They establish and execute monitoring processes and procedures of applications and holistic infrastructure to identify risks and troubleshoot problems.
  • They also oversee updates of operational support documentation relating to specific cloud applications or services, collaborating with product owners, developers, and support staff to ensure continuous and reliable service delivery.
  • This Senior Engineer is highly experienced in leading the investigation and solving problems across various hybrid systems and software applications, serving as the point person for Cloud Engineering.
  • They are responsible for creating knowledge management and training resources for new features introduced into the cloud infrastructure environment, and they partner with cross-functional teams to document knowledge on new system features and enhancements.
  • The Senior Engineer also gathers and organizes data and reporting of service utilization of AWS and develops procedures, oversees, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement cost allocation tags for AWS services.
  • They provide input for recommendations of new systems and software based on technical expertise and collaborate with cross-functional teams on reviewing cost models.
  • Overall, this Senior Engineer plays a big role in the cloud infrastructure team and works on configuration management, and monitoring, ensuring reliable and efficient service delivery for the organization. They are highly skilled in leadership and possess excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT-related Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Must have five years of experience in position(s) where requisite experience obtained.
  • Must have five years of experience in: 
  • 1) Cloud Network Engineering.
  • 2) Cloud Operations (including managing cloud services).
  • 3) DevOps experience.
  • 4) ELK Stackdriver (or similar log aggregation equivalent), SolarWinds, Splunk, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, and Elastic (or similar monitoring equivalent).
  • 100 percent telecommuting required.
  • 0-10% Domestic travel required. 
  • Compensation for role-$163,654/year

Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
