POSITION TITLE: Pricing Clerk

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Pricing Coordinator

Pricing Lead

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

To coordinate and conduct scheduled implementation of price changes at store level

NATURE AND SCOPE

Emphasis in this position is on effective coordination and implementation of store price change information and signage to maintain necessary price controls and integrity Timeliness and accuracy of implementation are necessary in the position. Position requires an understanding of the pricing and scanning systems, as well as, front end procedures to effectively coordinate price change information. Problem solving skills are necessary in resolving pricing discrepancies and may require collaboration with division and store management. The position requires on-going customer interaction, providing prompt, courteous and accurate service, social skills/verbal interaction and judgment/decision making, computer operation, walking, reading, writing and math. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction provided by Pricing Coordinator or person in charge.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

1. Ensure positive customer relations and satisfaction

- Greet customers

- Assist customers with product location

- Respond to price check calls promptly

- Assist at check out as needed

Functional Requirements

Frequent: Physical – lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs., equipment operation (scanner, register, check approval machine, coupon machine, intercom, telephone), reaching, standing and turning

Mental – judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing and math

Occasional: Physical – lifting/carrying over 50 lbs., equipment operation (calculator)

squatting, stooping/bending and walking

2. Implement price changes as directed

- Ensure that prices are accurate and go into effect in a timely and consistent manner

- Communicate and resolve price discrepancies and scan error forms

- Complete necessary paperwork and/or enters changes in computer systems

- Print and apply shelf tags as required

3. Coordinate and conduct price changes

- Verify for accuracy (price on shelf and display, returns shelf and display to regular price, updates computer files and completes necessary paperwork)

4. Ensure new items are priced accurately and all necessary data is entered into computer

- Ensure that new items are flagged for tax, food stamps and ensures accurate description and department

- Communicate effectively with all vendors

5. Coordinate and performs proper signage

- Ensure price accuracy and integrity

- Maintain point-of-sale standards

Occasional: Physical – climbing ladders

6. Coordinate and conduct verification of prices on an ongoing basis using verification equipment and audits

- Inform Division personnel of potential pricing errors or inconsistencies

7. Maintain an efficient organization of pricing office and equipment

8. Follow store safety and security procedures

- Use appropriate ergonomic work techniques

- Know and understands store emergency procedures

- Notify appropriate personnel in case of theft or shoplifting

9. Follow all store and department policies and procedures

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
