Purpose:
The Senior Manager of Facilities is responsible to oversee and manage Supply Chain Capital Projects occurring in the region ensuring established process and procedures are followed for the timely completion of work within budget expectations. The Senior Manager of Facilities works closely with onsite Facility Maintenance Managers to ensure that the each UNFI Facility inclusive of Buildings, Grounds, Material Handling Equipment and Building Systems including Refrigeration are properly maintained to ensure uninterrupted business operations. This position requires travel to UNFI locations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and ensure implementation of Quality Assurance Audit Corrective Action plans and Continuous Improvement programs.
- Performs regularly scheduled facility audits and site inspections including all related facility shops, equipment, MHE Equipment, engine rooms and supporting office space; communicates with General Managers and Region management of facility maintenance needs and costs
- Work with National Account vendors for needed support / Service / Training on OEM Equipment.
- Responsible for monitoring ongoing operational budgets for Buildings and Grounds and implementing cost control measures to meet financial objectives.
- Provides educational outreach and guidelines to on-site Facilities Managers and Building and Grounds team to drive forward and support a cost-conscious culture.
- Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Manages criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes including “Green” initiatives.
- Coordinates efforts with other departments, divisions, and companies of UNFI to effect positive communications and collaboration for successful projects.
- Implement and drive facility best practices in conjunction with the sustainability team to incorporate energy and material conservation efforts into operation activities
- Develop and maintains effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with Company personnel and management
- Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services and building expansion requirements
- Performs other relevant job duties as required
Job Requirements:
Education/Certification:
- BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Facilities Management, or equivalent related experience
Experience:
- 6-8 years’ experience in food distribution, construction, corporate real estate, refrigeration, HVAC, or other related business disciplines.
- Experience coordinating large scale industrial projects, office fit out projects and negotiating real estate transactions required
- Experience in planning, structuring, and reviewing real estate plans to meet business unit need required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of construction processes and operational requirements of food distribution
- Knowledge of refrigeration installation and maintenance and HVAC installation and maintenance
- Knowledge of commercial leases and Purchase and Sale Agreements
- Proven knowledge of financial and real estate principles and analysis.
- Proven knowledge of techniques necessary for in-depth strategic planning
- Well organized and attentive to detail.
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy
- Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
