PURPOSE:

The Director IT – Quality Engineering is responsible for developing, leading, and executing the test automation best practices strategy through planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of test automation. As the driver of the testing for all solutions in the enterprise, whether SaaS, COTS, or internally developed, this role defines and measures the best methods for testing the solutions, from physical device testing to fully automated testing.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, Implementation Quality Engineering

  •        Develop plans for QE, including resource and budget requirements; provide input and implementation to the overall system development lifecycle specifically in quality engineering and testing.
  •        Apply deep knowledge of frameworks tools and leverage emerging technologies to move strategies and implementations.
  •        Participates in the ongoing evolution of process/methodologies that pertain to software development lifecycle, people management, business process or information services.

Process Review, Design, Approvals, Execution

  •        Define gaps in processes for reviewing quality defects, overall test case coverage, performance KPI’s and metrics and design. Directs plans to design, execute, and approve processes in Policies and Programs.
  •        Initiate and lead the collaboration with product management, engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure test automation and reporting is a repeatable and consistent part of the SDLC/Agile process.
  •        Maintains an environment where all understand, and are committed to, providing excellent service to internal and external customers.

Leadership and Team Management

  •        Accountable for all aspects of managing the team including delegation, performance management, coaching, and development.
  •        Identifies and organize activities requiring resources across the Information Technology Department. Optimize Operating model with FTE and contractors.
  •        Strong vendor management skills including MSA negotiations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

  •        Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science, or related discipline.
  •        Advanced Degree preferred.

Experience:

  •        15+ years of relevant Information Technology experience required.
  •         8+ years’ experience leading a team made up of associate and contract resources in multiple locations, including offshore required.
  •         Experience creating and implementing strategies, roadmaps, and standards for quality engineering related to cloud migration and cloud-native technologies, supporting application development teams preferred in SAP, AWS, Manhattan, EDI.
  •         Experience in QE Automation capabilities and transform ways of QE processes.
  •         Relevant experience in other retail or consumer packaged goods companies.
  •         Leadership experience setting test automation and application quality vision, leveraging cloud, DevOps, open source, agile, and performance engineering.
  •         Strong foundational knowledge of standard methodologies, test driven development, test automation, performance testing, release engineering pipelines and prior experience with implementing Quality Engineering practices within a team.
  •         Previous experience with open source or in-house test automation frameworks, test design strategies, and automating tests for distributed systems, micro-services, and web services.
  •        Demonstrated ability to influence key Technical Service and Business leaders.
  •        Experience in driving teams working with CI/CD pipelines and building performance and test automation into them.
  •        Managing conflicting approaches aligned to strategic roadmap.
  •        Managed contracting SOWs and vision around optimizations of SOWs.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  •        Experience in Supply Chain business practices and associated industry software tools preferred.
  •        Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications.
  •        Exposure to methodologies and specific quality assessment/certifications such as SDLC, PMP.
  •        Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to work in geographically dispersed teams.
  •        Ability to manage competing priorities.
  •        Ability to create process and design where none or little exists.
  •        Ability to create strategic landscape that delivers against IT goals.
  •        Ability to build strong teams across dispersed work locations, including mentoring and providing developmental    goals.
  •        Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

  •        This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
