Job Overview:  

Manages distribution center inventory control functions.  This includes effective receiving, slotting and storage of product.  Maintains an accurate inventory, stored in a cost effective and efficient manner.

What does it mean to be a part of our Warehouse Operations Manager team? 

A Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of warehouse functions to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. This role involves managing the movement, storage, and distribution of goods, as well as supervising warehouse staff, implementing operational strategies, and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations. This position plays a key role in driving improvements in warehouse productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.  At UNFI, we strive to help make our customers stronger, our supply chain better, and our fresh food solutions more inspired.   

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages physical inventories and the cycle inventory process; stock rotation, outside storage and product transfer
• Ensures proper receiving in system, storage and control of warehouse inventory
• Maintains accurate physical or cycle inventory records
• Ensures adequate systems security is maintained in the computer inventory system
• Coordinates SOX activities and compliance in cooperation with warehouse manager
• Manages product dating, efficient warehouse space utilization and product slotting
• Interviews, training and oversees performance management of all direct reports
• Acts as liaison with buyers and coordinates activities to ensure budgeted inventory levels
• Manages disposition of discontinued items
• Analyzes and resolves buying and logistics related problems to optimize service level to retail customers
• Assists in preparation of financial studies and warehouse budget
• Resolves warehouse system issues (AWS, PLUS, and Voice) working with ITS and outside contractors
• Provides on-call support for system issues


JOB REQUIREMENTS:  
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
• 3 years of relevant inventory control experience or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years of warehouse experience
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience
• Strong administrative, analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong leadership capabilities
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written
• Excellent ability to understand and utilize warehouse systems and technology

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:
• Some travel may be required
• Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 
degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation
• Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
• Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of the normal workday
• Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
• Moving about the distribution center warehouse floor

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Onsite Role:  
• This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office. 
• 60% on the warehouse floor, 40% in an office cubicle. 

Travel (minor):  
• This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
