Cub Rochester East is looking for dedicated experienced people leader for Assistant Deli Manager. As an Assistant Deli Manager you will assist in managing the deli department to promote sales, achieves profit margins, labor goals and ensure a positive shopping experience for customers, and a safe and positive working environment for associates.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Emphasis in this position is assisting the Deli Manager in the coordination and direction of daily production, merchandising, stock and display activity in order to ensure consistent quantity, quality, freshness of deli product to maintain maximum sales and profit and customer service. Primary challenge is to positively effective department labor and productivity factors through efficient task organization and delegation. This position is responsible for providing effective training, development and work direction for department associates and requires the ability to encourage individual and group effort toward department objectives. This position requires on-going customer interaction, providing prompt, courteous service, knowledge of food preparation procedures, food safety regulations, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing, math, moderate to heavy lifting, walking, order processing tools, box cutter, operation of deli equipment, exposure to varied temperatures and wet surfaces. Decision-making is collaborative with Deli Manager. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction are provided by the Deli Manager or person in charge
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
1. Assist customers and ensure proper service levels and courtesy from all associates
- Greet customers
- Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available
- Answer customer questions; provides product sampling and suggestive selling
- Answer deli department telephone calls promptly
- Perform price checks
- Exchange product when necessary
- Bring customers to location of item, when needed
- Assists with special orders
- Performs cashier functions as needed

Frequent: Physical – Physical – lifting/carrying to 50 lbs., equipment operation (scanner, register, scale, check approval machine, coupon machine, intercom, meat slicer and scale, intercom, telephone) reaching, standing, walking, and turning

2. Plan, set and maintain deli cases
- Pull outdated product and properly rotates
- Restock as needed to maintain maximum selection
- Follow merchandising plan
- Clean cases and sales floor

3. Organize, direct and assist with daily department functions
- Effectively communicate with associates about department priorities and objectives
- Monitor department conditions (product availability and placement, display to shelf, stocking, facing, rotation, cleanliness and safety, and signs) are maintained properly
- Ensure proper handling to control shrinkage and waste
- Direct work to ensure completion of assigned tasks and efficient uses of labor hours
- Review department production standards to ensure goals are being met
- Assess scheduling needs with Deli Manager
- Ensure adherence to store and department policies and procedures
- Monitor customer relations and service levels to ensure a positive shopping environment; sampling, suggestive selling
- Monitor department to ensure a positive work environment

4. Prepares and deli product
- Follows safe food handling and preparation processes
- Properly shaves and slices meats and cheeses
- Ensures freshness and quality of all product
- Ensures proper assembly and recipes for salads, sandwiches, pizza, party trays and chicken, etc.
- Follows tare weight procedures
- Shrink wraps when appropriate
- Accurately labels and prices all wrapped product

Environmental – exposure to hot equipment and cooking oil
Occasional: Physical – lifting/carrying 60 lbs., equipment operation (coffee pot, ice machine}
5. Train and evaluate Deli department personnel
- Train department personnel in proper techniques and procedures
- Assist and advise on all probationary and regular performance reviews
- Provide individual and group guidance and encouragement toward department objectives
- Ensure associates know and follow pertinent company policies and procedures

6. Monitor and assist in directing deli department sanitation to ensure proper conditions
- Coordinate tasks with maintenance personnel; monitors for proper break down, cleaning and sanitizing of department
- Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained
- Ensure all associates are properly trained in the proper use of equipment use, maintenance, and sanitation standards, proper lifting and all related safety rules and procedures
- Ensure no one under 18 years of age operates hazardous equipment
- Conduct department inspections and maintains safety checklist
- Ensure department compliance with sanitation related issues relative to outside sanitation auditors and public health inspectors

7. Order and receive deli shipments correctly
- Ensure ordering to maintain appropriate stock levels
- Ensure orders are placed within allotted time
- Maintain familiarity with movement of key items to ensure a minimum of over or under stock
- Verify product with invoice
- Ensure product meets quality standards; check product for freshness and damage
- Keep cooler properly rotated and organized
- Ensure processing of shop back, damaged goods and maintaining damage/out-of-date records
- Ensure product properly dated

Los planes de comisiones de UNFI no tienen tope y las ganancias promedio dependen del territorio y de las ventas logradas, entre otros factores.
