Job Overview:

The Senior Manager of Retail Facilities is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of all facilities functions across the retail store portfolio and Retail Headquarters. This role ensures that stores and office environments are safe, functioning, well‑maintained, cost‑effective, and aligned with brand standards and business objectives. The Senior Manager partners closely with Retail Operations, Real Estate, Construction, Finance, and external vendors to deliver consistent, high‑quality facilities support that enables exceptional associate and customer experiences.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

Facilities Strategy & Leadership

·         Execute and refine our facilities management strategy for all Retail Locations and Retail HQ.

·         Establish preventive maintenance program, including standards, policies, and operating procedures to ensure consistency across the portfolio.

·         Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for facilities team members, store directors and others as needed.

Retail Store & HQ Operations

·         Oversee day‑to‑day facilities operations including but not limited to: janitorial/floor care, HVAC/Refrigeration, Refrigeration compliance and Food Safety, Fire and Security, Trash/OCC, Recycling, Systems Maintenance (electrical, mechanical, refrigeration), and lighting retrofits.

·         Ensure Retail Headquarters facilities support productivity, safety, and collaboration.

·         Act as the primary escalation point for critical facilities issues, emergency response, and after‑hours support.

Vendor & Contract Management

·         Manage and direct contractors / vendors in conjunction with the Terms and Conditions of all established contracts.

·         Coordinate with legal team to ensure contracts are maintained current and vendors are compliant with all contract terms and conditions.

·         Negotiate service agreements as required to improve efficiencies, ensure adherence to SLAs, KPIs, and budget expectations.

·         Drive continuous improvement in vendor performance, cost control, and service quality.

Budget & Financial Management

·         Own the facilities operating budget for stores and HQ, including forecasting, variance analysis, and cost optimization initiatives.

·         Identify opportunities to reduce operating expenses while maintaining service levels and brand standards.

·         Review and approve invoices, contracts, and capital expenditures related to facilities.

Capital Projects & Cross‑Functional Partnership

·         Partner with Real Estate, Construction, and Store Planning on remodels, refreshes, relocations, and new store openings as needed.

·         Provide facilities input on design standards, maintainability, and lifecycle cost considerations.

·         Collaborate with Retail Operations to minimize store downtime and disruption.

Compliance, Safety & Risk Management

·         Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, ADA, fire/life safety, and environmental requirements.

·         Oversee safety inspections, audits, and corrective actions across stores and HQ.

·         Support business continuity planning and disaster preparedness.

Data, Reporting & Technology

·         Utilize facilities tools (currently Corrigo) to track work orders, asset lifecycles, and performance metrics.

·         Leverage dashboards and reporting to inform decisions, prioritize investments and work with leadership on facilities performance, costs, and risks.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.

Experience / Requirements:

·         8 - 10+ years of progressive facilities management experience; retail or multi‑site environment strongly preferred.

·         Proven experience managing large vendor portfolios and multi‑million‑dollar operating budgets.

·         Strong knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance programs, and regulatory compliance.

·         Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

·         Effective written and verbal communication skills combined with excellent organizational skills.

·         Position requires frequent travel to all Cub corporate locations.

Work Environment:

Hybrid Role:

·         This position follows a hybrid schedule working between the office and stores. The acceptable split between onsite and remote work is determined by the manager.

Travel:

·         This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, retail stores or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

Physical Environment/Demands:

Office and Store Roles:

·         Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.

·         Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  

·         Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.

·         Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

·         Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.  

·         Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.  

·         Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.  

·         Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.  Ability to operate work-related equipment.

·         Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
