Job Overview:
To complete a variety of specialized duties that support functional operations of Brands department. The duties in the department specialist job focus on tasks and/or work that are unique to the department and require knowledge and skills that are beyond what are required for general office work.
Job Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
· Manage new item setup and item maintenance to ensure accuracy and timely updates.
· Submit promotional programs and related details to the National Merchandising team for review and execution.
· Proof, validate, and ensure the accuracy of various promotional programs.
· Provide daily operational support to assigned Product Business Managers.
· Respond to inquiries from internal teams and suppliers within assigned areas.
· Gather and organize data and information for special projects and departmental reporting.
· Update, maintain, and ensure the accuracy of department reports and information.
· Verify data accuracy, prepare balanced summaries, and identify discrepancies.
· Review information and make decisions within established guidelines, parameters, and instructions.
· Evaluate and prioritize incoming documents to determine required actions and next steps.
· Create, maintain, and reconcile complex reports, records, and documentation.
· Sort, file, and manage invoices, receipts, contracts, and other department documents.
· Compile basic statistical data to support departmental analysis and reporting.
· Perform routine one‑ and two‑step math calculations with accuracy.
· Complete keyboarding and administrative projects, including correspondence and mailings.
· Analyze, develop, and execute major projects from inception through completion.
· Research and interpret information from multiple sources to support business needs.
· Monitor daily workload distribution among Specialists and adjust assignments to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
· Train and onboard new Specialists, providing guidance on departmental processes and responsibilities.
· Maintain advanced or complex records with a high degree of accuracy.
· Review and verify the work of other Specialists, ensuring quality standards are met.
· Lead and contribute to high‑visibility, strategic projects that support category, brand, or organizational priorities.
· Manage larger, more complex desks with increased ownership, autonomy, and strategic decision‑making.
· Serve as a subject‑matter resource for colleagues within the work group.
· Provide performance-related input to management for team members within the work group.
· Participate in interviews and provide feedback to management during the hiring process.
· Coordinate and execute special programs and events.
Additional Responsibilities
· Coordinate and implement approved updates to policies, processes, and procedures
· Offer guidance and support to colleagues and act as a liaison to cross‑functional partners.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support department and organizational goals.
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
· High School Diploma, or equivalent required
Experience:
· 5 years office environment
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
· Reading, writing, math and communication skills at a proficient level
· Ability to follow verbal or written instruction
· Computer skills: word processing and/or spreadsheet
· Intermediate keyboarding proficiency
· Intermediate computer skills: word processing and/or spreadsheet
· Math skills at a specific level (i.e. one step: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division or two step percent calculations or more advanced)
· Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Work Environment:
· This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
· This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.
Physical Environment/Demands:
· Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
· Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
· Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
· Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

Compensation:
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
