UNFI in Ridgefield, WA is hiring Warehouse Shipping Receivers – Our business continues to grow with many openings available and career advancement opportunities!

  • Pay rate: $24.25/hour

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday and starting at 1:00 AM. Overtime is required and fluctuates seasonally

  • Overnight Shift Differential - $1.25/hour for shifts starting after 3pm during the week

Job Overview:

The Receiver position works closely with the Inventory Control department to ensure accuracy of all incoming products. In this position, you’ll be responsible for having a strong understanding of the entire warehouse, understanding the products, receiving procedures, and back stock put away procedures. A receiver is responsible for moving product off trucks, monitoring the quality of product, entering it into inventory, and properly putting product in the proper pick slot or back stock location.

Physical Environment/ Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently

  • Exposure to temperatures ranging from -10 degrees below zero to 90 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures

  • Ability to operate PIT work-related equipment

What you will be doing:

  • Verifies quantities of product received against the packing slip/purchase order

  • Check and report any damage found due to refrigeration, travel or handling by inbound freight company

  • Builds steady and secure pallets to be put into back stock reserves, then wrap pallets whenever necessary

  • Ensures that all labeling of product and pallets are accurate for put-away in proper pick slot or back stock location

  • Keep the area clean of debris; ensures a safe working environment

  • Inspects assigned jack for safety issues. Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner

  • Reports to supervisor or lead any violation of company policy

  • Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location

What we are looking for:

  • Understanding of warehouse safety guidelines

  • Knowledge of applicable Bakco functions and RF systems

  • Must be able to safely lift up to 100 pounds continuously as well as pick with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency

  • Must be able to work in a range of temperatures from -10 to 90+ degrees Fahrenheit

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a drug screen

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

  • Associates working in the warehouse will potentially be exposed to major food allergens to include milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy and sesame

  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available

Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
